Takes all kinds. For some people the optimization is half the satisfaction. For some people being able to go "yeah I want the best" and get it is more satisfying. It's a hobby, we're paying money to get dopamine flowing. However, top end NV cards are an inefficient means of converting money into framerate, especially since their main appeal is being the best single card and that title sticks with a single card for a relatively short time.

It's a shame that there isn't a good average frames per second per dollar graph of the GPU market over time (and it'd be horrible to make), I think it'd be pretty interesting overall.

I just realized that big Maxwell will be the last and greatest GPU to ever use DDR memory. It should go in a museum or something. This reminds me of the FX-57 cpu I had. It was among the last few, and greatest single core CPUs to ever exist.

I'm totally buying two of those ASAP, although I have a feeling the price will drop like a rock over night as soon as AMD releases their well hidden beast.

I have until June 20 to return my 970 and get a 980Ti, so I'll wait a couple weeks to see what happens to the prices.

Do you mean for step-up, or would you rather just return and order the 980 Ti?

Just regular return. Bought one last week as I was building a brand new PC and wanted to have something meanwhile. Will probably also exchange my current Dell U2715H monitor for the Acer XB270HU Gsync monitor (though I really really hope I don't end up with a bad panel). The tearing on the screen is driving me nuts, and when I put it on Vsync I get all sorts of lag, feel very disconnected when playing a game then. And Adaptive Vsync will either give me tearing or a bit of input lag.

I would love to see some Custom Aftermarket models.

It seems likely nvidia will allow vendors to have a shot with the 980ti.

With the titanX cooler, i think we will see it perform very close to the TitanX.

It is just a matter of heat, with the slight reduction in cores it should boost higher. Unless they set the TDP limit 10-20w lower.

Pushing up the power limit and temp threshold to 91c, the 980ti could be as fast/faster than the titan X.

If we see custom vendor cards, now that should be a lot more interesting.

Single card AMD performance in a game that uses PhysX extensively and pervasively is not going to happen.

However it does appear to have a Crossfire profile since 15.3 in March.

This article even seems to verify it http://wccftech.com/project-cars-4k-recommended-graphic-cards-4k-experience/
295x2 appears to be using both GPUs.

Are you sure you didn't just want to sling mud?

Perhaps you should venture to the PCars steam forums as well as the official forums and tell them they're either wrong or lying.

I hear you though. It's not AMD's fault (I mean, when is it? right?) that's why I tend to stay away from AMD. Since based on the AMD fans own words, it's never AMD's fault. That leads me to believe AMD can't do anything about it. Also based on AMD fans word, it's always NVidia's fault. In my wildest imagination, I can't fathom nVidia helping AMD out.

So based on what I hear from AMD owners themselves, I can only surmise that in a situation where AMD performance isn't where it should be, the following must be true:

AMD can't do anything about it and nVidia won't do anything about it.

Seeing blowers on high end cards makes me sad, I'll be much happier when benchmarks are showing AIO and multiple fan open coolers trading blows.

here ya go...thanks head1985

"The most important news: there are as many ROP units on GTX 980 Ti as on TITAN X. This is probably why GTX 980 Ti does so well in gaming benchmarks, making it almost impossible to differentiate the two."

There are some screwy results in those graphs, I'm not familiar with hardware battle. Anyone know if they're reliable. . . at all?

Who the freak cares about 1080p - where's 2160p benches at?

lol how much of the market has 4k monitors.

less than 10% most likely.

And i'm on a 1200p monitor and I care I won't be going 4k until there is a single gpu powerful enough to run it with most settings on.

And that won't happen until 14/16nm gpus appear.

And there are still games that a Titan X will struggle with when you max everything out @ 1080p
