So at stock speeds running an EVGA 980Ti SC+ ACX2.0+ on a Furmark stress test, it started throttling speeds once I reached 88C. And I reached 88C pretty quickly, with ambient temps of around 27C. Is that normal behavior?
Hmm, I think my 1050watt should be alright I suppose. I know it will work, but it might only have 2-300 watts of overhead. I guess I could use it until it breaks. Without adding voltage to the GPUs, I'll probably be OK. Good post BTW. Thanks for the info. I like the idea of over radding as well. It gives the option for low RPM on the fans I think. Maybe I'll get crazy and go for 1500 on those 980ti's :twisted:
Ya, that's fine. Don't worry about FurMark, it's a worthless test. Gigabyte G1 980Ti is a better card that the EVGA SC+ anyway.
I dont think you will regret it. I am sure AMD will be able to match the 980ti, maybe even best it. But it wont be by much. You should be able to overclock and have performance at least as good or better than fiji overclocked.
And besides all that. You got a freaking fantastic deal. I just dont see AMD topping that deal, not even sure they will match it.

I must say I am impressed with the quality of their review, also people saying that Titan X is worthless should get a good look it, the visual fidelity offered by Tx can't be undermined.Dying light is also approaching the 6gb framebuffer so while Tx is an expensive affair people looking for the best visual fidelity @4K should have a good look at it I am currently looking for Fury X benches before considering the 980 Ti though.
980 ti and Titan X are virtually identical. The only place you can see a difference is on your bank statement.

that's a beast of a card, but also much higher power consumption at load. in many respects, it really puts the TitanX to shame.

Titan X is more-so a Halo sku and to create revenue for ultra early adopters but also priced higher so it doesn't cannibalize lesser price-points and to keep margins strong for lesser offering, particularly GM-104 derivatives.
TitanX has done such an outstanding job -- that a 650 dollar cut down sku is being hailed by some as value. nVidia is redefining pricing and conditioning consumers to pay more premiums.
You also have to consider that $650 is $100 less than 780 TI introduction. Considering from a technical standpoint - twice the vram and a bigger chip, conditioning accomplished sure but also it IS a significantly better value.

That's not likely going by the synthetic benchmark leaks I've seen. but I guess it might be possible.
