What will really blow your mind will be what temps your 980TIs will run at maxed out when under full water. You will be pleasantly surprised.

I also agree with iiiankiii about reaching instability way before hitting thermal caps.

Just take your time and watch for instability.

Same here, I'm buying it as soon as it's in stock but it hasn't been for weeks. Even got a email notification from EVGA that it was in stock, checked and it wasn't A good site to track is http://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/gtx980ti/.

Just pulled the trigger on the MSI Gaming G6 overclocked 980 ti. As soon as I got the order through at Newegg, the stock updated to "Out of Stock," but they did charge my card, so hopefully I got in the window of availability. I would be a touch pissed if they charged me and then made me wait 4 weeks for stock to come in.

A Sandy Bridge rig that's still serving me quite well. I5-2500K at 4.4 GHz on an Asus P8P67 Deluxe board, 16 GB RAM, SSD boot/game drive, 2 TB HDD for files and games I don't load as frequently. I also have a Soundblaster Z, but I only got that after I managed to break every sound out port on both the motherboard AND the tower, because I am an idiot (and 3.55mm jacks are surprisingly flimsy). My GTX 680 was getting long in the tooth, so it's off to a needy relative; can't be bothered to hang onto it for PhysX in the miniscule number of titles I have that support it. I figure the main system will easily pull me through until Skylake's second tier drops next year, and the 980ti should have a shelf life of several years, especially if developers keeping optimizing for consoles.

Price cut would be great, but let's be realistic here, both camps can't even keep cards in stock right now. I doubt we see a price cut anytime soon

They're not. It's just in areas where the prices were much higher than $649 US, like certain Euro countries, etc, where the true cost is closer to $750-800 when converted.

Is it possible to increase the voltage on any gtx980ti ? Even the stock models ?

I have a fully watercooled system. Currently with a gtx680 with an EK-waterblock. I recently tried to overclock the gtx680. But it seemed I wasn't able to increase the voltage. I used MSI Afterburner to set the voltage (and clockspeed). I could overclock ~100MHz at stock voltage without problems. Anything higher would crash the videocard. I increased the voltage (with Afterburner), but even then, the videocard would crash at exactly the same core-speeds. It seemed like the voltage wasn't increased at all. I use HWMonitor to look at voltage (and temps, etc). HWMonitor would show the increased voltage. But I suspected that number wasn't the real number on the card. Sources on the web seemed to indicate that you can't overvolt a stock gtx680 at all. Unless you modify the bios, or do hardware mods maybe.

I didn't continue, because I was planning to buy a gtx980ti soon. Still hasn't happened.

I was interested in a EVGA HydroCopper gtx980ti. Which has a waterblock. Still unavailable. So maybe I'll buy a SuperClocked EVGA. Or a stock one.

I suspect that you can overclock and overvolt the SuperClocked models even further (also from other vendors). I will put my own waterblock on a gtx980ti, so the cooling should be fine. Which will allow me to increase voltage and clocks even further. If the card can be overvolted of course.

So my question is: can every gtx980ti be overvolted and overclocked as much as you want ? Or are there limitations for specific models ? Would a changed BIOS be needed ?

You can get a reference 980ti and then buy an EK water block and it will come out less than the EVGA model. I just installed some and it worked out well. The EVGA model uses the same EK water block but they tweak the appearance for an EVGA specific look.
Playing BF4 last night for about 30 minutes and the 980ti's topped out at 42c using the EK blocks.

Ah. Yes, that is true.
Stock gtx980ti is 750 euros here. Slightly factory-overclocked gtx980ti is 760-770 euros. Waterblock is 100 euros. Total cost 850-870 euros. The HybridCopper is supposed to be 890 euros (once it becomes available).

I'm still wondering if the stock gtx980s will overclock just as easy as the factory-overclocked gtx980ti's, once I put on a waterblock.

I understand that the factory-overclocked cards sometimes have different VRMs or other components, to improve overvolting or overvolting. But I was mostly interested in artificial limitations (like putting in max voltage, max tdp, etc in the BIOS).

Third time I've received the auto notify from EVGA for the hybrid and it's never in stock (even 5 mins after the email). Does it just sell out insanely quick or is there something I'm missing? I want to buy the card but it's never in stock

Keep an eye on evga.com, they said they might have some tonight.
