thinking of getting the evga 1080 ti sc edition. will a 660 seasonic platinum rated psu run that card, a kraken x61, and a 6700k with enough power? thanks

Get the Aorus 1080TI, much better than the EVGA. That PSU has a single V12 rail which is a plus and 55A continuous power at the v12 rail so a plus.

Without an overclock it will sustain that configuration, but with overclock on the CPU and GPU you are going to be pushing your luck. OC'd 1080ti can draw upwards of 350W, overclocked 6700k upwards of 110W, add in your ram and how many stick and what frequency its working, plus any sort of additional stuff like HDD, SSD, DVD, chassis fans, etc...

OP, you're fine.

You won't even come close to the limits of that PSU. How do I know? Because I tested it. 437 watts at maximum overclock on a 4.3GHz Core i7-6900K, which uses twice as much power as your CPU.

One thing I've noticed over the years on this board. People here have no concept of how much power things take. If you ask, someone is always going to think you need a bigger power supply.

well that 3 fan asus gtx1080 might not fit in my case. i liked the evga sc 1080ti since its 2 fan and lifetime warranty

But to answer your question; yes but you are pushing the limits of that PSU if overclocked.

I'll have to disagree on both counts.

This question has nothing to do with that thread, it absolutely should be it's own thread.

Second, 660watts is going to be plenty. A 1080Ti consumes about as much power as a 980Ti and on my machine I pull a max of 535watts from the wall under load and that includes a 24" and 27" monitor. In other words, power draw from the actual PSU is well under 400 watts.
