We had one of these threads a while back but not many people bought the card at the time.

I thought it would be a good idea for the forum members and to get a better idea of how well these cards are overclocking now that you can pick one up for 136$ AR shipped.

http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...namitedata.com

Please state maximum stock voltage overclock and maximum overclock with maximum voltage.

In the poll ,please select the TWO closest option to your cards thats avalable.

A good overclocking article for you guys to determine there cards performance when overclocked.

I have 2 msi cyclones 1gb, had 1 for 2 months then got the other.
With 1, the max was 920/1050 @ 1.087
In SLI, I synchronize the cards/ clocks speeds/voltage/fan curve
890/990 @1.087

@ Phynaz.
This poll and thread is not just for me. It might help me make a decision on whether to buy a cheap gtx460 now or just wait for the gtx560. I might also consider a 6850, if the price drops to around 135$ shipped.

My Gigabyte 1GB is OC'd to 850MHz on stock voltage. I haven't tried to go any higher, and I don't really want to mess with the voltages, even though it may be easy to do. My PSU is probably stressed enough...

And I only picked the stock voltage option...

Thats not possible, sorry.

It only gives you 10 choices in a poll. I picked 810 for the bottom end because I never heard of a 460 not overclocking to 810 on stock voltage.

How about the "I don't own a GTX460 because the HD6850 is better" option?

Here's another useful post. Go threadcrap in another website, not here.

You're gone for three days

Either way, Why are you making a thread about a card you don't own?

This is off topic but , did you not make a thread about the 6850 before you bought it?
Make sense now?

Why are you posting in this thread is a better question.

LOL, i doubt it

Either way, Why are you making a thread about a card you don't own?

Because he want's to advertise for his favorite video card company. Btw he can write about a gtx 460 overclocking ability I don't see any harm done here, it doesn't bother me if happy medium is an nVidia fanboy with an agenda.
Fanboys or marketers didn't have a affect on my 6970 purchase.

Sorry happy medium I wasn't trying to thread crap your thread well you know.

I'm just not that ambitious right now. Just ran it up to 820 when I first bought it and left it there. Good enough for now, stable and runs cool.

870, just for the hell of it, stock V, but it's a GB OC, so it comes with a stock voltage boost over reference. I use it at stock, though, due to my CPU bottleneck. I haven't bothered trying to see what it can reach with even higher voltage.

IMO, if you want performance, you might as well wait (or get a Radeon 68xx). If you want cheap, take the AR deal--you're basically paying an extra $15-20 to go from a 450 to a 460. The added resources in the 560, though, will not be insignificant. While it shouldn't be near what the 570 is to the 470 (then again, maybe it will be), if you have the extra dough when it comes, and you have an acceptable card now, wouldn't you regret it? I've been gaming on mine for months, now, and I don't see it not being plenty for a few more years. But, if I had a 4850 or 9800GT or better, I'd sit on my ass and wait, at least until late Jan/early Feb.

Wow, a lot of GTX 460's aren't even hitting 900MHz with voltage now? Yikes.

Thats the "holy crap" option. That would be the over 850 core without voltage option.
Did you get 1000 core with voltage?
Yes I did get the 1000 core with voltage manipulation. It is great for bragging rights, but I didn't see any different in gaming at 950Mhz. Therefore 950 is what I left it at for general usage.

Thanks I would love to see those results.

Did you try to go past the 1.087 voltage limitation yet?
