Fuad claiming that board partners are receiving 1/4 as many cards as they pre-sold to distributors.

http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/18435/1/

I think it's now safe to call this a paper launch whether it really took place on the 26th of March or 12th of April.

Well damn 5k-8k was right. Galaxy, EVGA, Palit, ASUS, GB, PNY & gang only get 25% of the cards they were promised, then turn around and ship them to Ewiz, Amazon, Newegg, Buy.com, ZZF, NCIX, it doesn't look good for the average Joe pressin' F5 on the newegg page. I saw a lot of spots said eta 4/14. They will probably sell out quick. 5870's were hard to find for the first 30-45 days too. Every time a batch hit newegg, they lasted about 2 mins, then 10 mins, then 1 hour, untill gradually you could consider them available if they were in stock longer than a day... haha. Within about 60 days, there were 4 or 5 brands in stock every day.

If GF100 stock performs acts the same, then you could consider it similar to the 5870 first month of launch. That is, unless nobody is buying the cards, and the little bit thats distributed is scooped up by fanboys. Hopefully Theo will have some sales numbers or something. You know if charlie posts an article, it's gonna say "NVIDIA SELLS 6 GTX480s WORLDWIDE"

I had at least 10 chances to buy 470's and 480's. They are there if you want them. TigerDirect got some in at midnight last night. They seem as easy to get as the 5800's were at launch, if not easier.

At MSRP, or at inflated prices?
Well, at the moment Newegg has $350 and $370 GTX470's, so I guess that answers that one, both.

How are you finding out how many cards Newegg has? That isn't listed information AFAIK.

And ZZF has 480s in stock, but of course you're going to pay $50-$100 more.

You add them to your cart and put in a crazy number for quantity, like 100. Then it automatically corrects the number as per stock.

And why are you doing this?

Look at his sig for the answer... Apparently i'm not allowed to point these things out specifically.

And yet you just did.
And it'll cost you.

Why are you asking why I am doing this?
Quick show of hands, who doesn't want to know how many cards are in stock?

*looks around the room*

That's what I thought.

At any rate, it's a very crafty method of trying to figure out how many cards Newegg has, Keys. I wish I would have thought of it first. PC Surgeon is probably right though in that with Newegg's per-customer limits that it may not be accurate.

I could see that with the cards that only registered 3 or 4, so he may be right. But I was able to load 35 MSI 470s in my cart. My credit card had a heart attack and said, "OH NO YOU DIDN"T!!"

Well some 470s and 480 arrived in my country (Namibia)

The 470 costs the same as the more expensive 5870s and 480 costs the same as the cheaper 5970s.

I was incredibly lucky last night. I was ordering RAM from the largest Polish PC etailer, and while checking 480 availability (not that I expected any, out of stock/ETA unknown everywhere here in Poland), I was completely surprised to see a miniscule stock of EVGA 480 SCs (no idea how many cards but a short red bar so I guess 2-3). I managed to get one, it's underway as I'm typing it. Like 20 minutes after my order, out of stock again.
