gtx570 or 6970?

Got a build i will be doing in a few days and iv'e came up with...

i5 2400
asus h67 motherboard
8gb ddr3 1333mhz

Do not plan any overclocking and the main focus of the build is pure BF3 performance and the rig to last me into 2013 with haswell.

Current resolution is 1600x1200 and i occasionally game on my 37 inch t.v being a 1080p and am stuck between the gtx570 and the 6970.

Not interested in any other models so perhaps anyone who can chime in their fps and settings or give some input

MSAA seems to like GTX570 more in BF3. Without AA they are about the same although I wouldn't call either performance great (but 6970 performance is quite bad with the MSAA).

Generally I would say buy the cheapest, but I guess BF3 is everything than GTX570 gets the nod.

The new gtx560ti 448 core does interest me but need a good multiplayer chart showing its performance in BF3.

Hard ocp did show the 6950 coming up to the gtx570 but perhaps when you slap on ultra and msaa it could very well be behind correct me if wrong.

The gtx560 ti 448 core according to some benchmarks bites the gtx570 but if it can come under $40 less then only would it be a good choice for me.

Here: One of these screenshot has 4x MSAA and the other does not.

Can you tell which one has?? Hint: MSAA is crap in frostbite 2 games, it doesn't filter aliasing for most objects on the scene.

Except the 448 comes way too close to gtx570 pricing and way too high above gtx560 ti, which can be OC to gtx570 levels already.

Maybe you should really look into the benefits of MSAA in BF3 before you make any conclusions.

Not only msaa in BF3 as a seller for me.

My main deal is ultra settings in BF3 msaa i could live without if the card is priced right.

As drivers are improved for the 6970 performance gaps close so much reading a review isn't a answer..

I could afford either the 6970 or the gtx570 that is not a problem and good point made,i had to struggle to see the difference msaa off and on.

AMD cards take a ~33% hit with MSAA, NV cards take a ~20% hit. Fortunately, MSAA does jack all so you can enjoy the game without it.

Hard ocps review did put the 6970 right up with the gtx580 at 1080p high...if in actual multiplayer maps its closer to the gtx570 without msaa who knows.

Or if that review is reliable personally i do prefer user experience over some canned benchmarks from sites who may or may not be bias.

Comparing CF 6970 vs SLI 580, really.. one solution costs a lot more. Not a fair comparison, it should be CF 6970 vs SLI 570.
Look at their AMD FX BD review, total blasting BD as utter failure. [H] is definitely not biased towards AMD if thats what you are getting at. I appreciate his reviews because he presents a few data types which other sites do not. If there is bias, its biased to do things his way regardless of what companies want with their review guidelines.

Did those charts disable msaa?

Charts do tend to show me a 6950 def will be out of the running,my current setup when i get that low of a min its just awful.

The 6970 has a nicer average over the gtx570 for sure.

I know there are differing opinions on MSAA in BF3. I like it and definitely see its effect, moreso on 4xMSAA than 2xMSAA, but it is still there. I also don't like the post FXAA so I leave that off, it just gives too blurry an image.

I don't know if it is a resolution issue for me, but I have to leave 4xMSAA off for multiplayer because in heavy action I get major slowdowns with it on. You may be able to run it at your resolution on a 570.

If all you care about is BF3 performance, then you should get the 570.

Only card in those charts having both hbao and ultra is the 6970.

I wouldn't miss msaa it seems to hurt performance on any single gpu eitherway to even enable it.

Hbao for me is to nice to pass up even when you change it up in the menu from ssao to hbao you can see a immediate difference well i can anyways.

Where i am shopping the gtx570 lowballs at $310 for a pny and $340 for a evga and the 6970 starts at $345 for a msi and theres a diamond for $350.

How does diamond measure up assuming when i walk in and i find the msi 6970 sold out?

Read up a complaint of a owner using a antec 300 who's 6970 overheated.

Apparently the guy had to get a antec1200 to stop this if user error who knows.

My antec 300 has no side fan and the bottom part of the case has no fan...but all case fans are on medium and i am pulling excellent thermals with a 6750 right now.

Guy was probaly a little overdramatic or forgot to install a fan profile for gaming?

This old e8200 has been pissing me off so much with BF3 i had to quit playing as of the day before .
