Makes sense to launch it then. That would be 1 month after the 580 launch, which is what they said originally I thought. And, if the follow suit on down the line in the same fashion, then the 560 may come out just after New Years on 1/8/11 since supposedly the card is already ready.

This 570 looks to a nice jump from 470 from the rumoured specs. But I think I might just wait for the GTX 560 for my next upgrade since it looks to be a 384 shader.

I'd rather have some news on the GTX 560

Yeah pretty much, I mean the interest in Fermi cards started with the 460. AMD is kind of in trouble unless they can pump out more 6870's and 6850's along with actually getting a 6970 and 6950 out.

560s are the likely choice for a 595

Why do you think that? The gtx275 had a TDP of 219w. Nvidia took two gtx275 GPU's, clocked them both at gtx260 speeds and vwahla, kept the gtx295 under 300w. If the gtx570 has a TDP slightly lower than the gtx470, then we're looking at < 215w. Downclock the GPUs by ~60mhz each, and I think a 960 core x2 beast is very, very feasible.

Thats what I was thinking. I think Nvidia uses there second fastest card usually. Right?
gtx275 x2 , 9800gx2, 7900gt x2

It was just wishful thinking. I'd be VERY happy with using 2 570 cores

Two slightly downclocked 570 cores would be a real beast. I wonder what it would be priced at, $699.00?

Now I'm thinking of just holding onto my 5870 until I see a 595 vs. 6990 comparison.

If it ends up being two gtx570's, even if slightly downclocked, it'll be around twice the price of one gtx570 just like the hd5970's were to the hd5870's and gtx295's were to the gtx275's.

Wouldn't it be fun if Nvidia and AMD both released TWO dual-gpu cards? Nvidia could release one based on two gtx560's and two gtx570's while AMD released ones based on two hd6870's and two hd6950's.
