The owner of the copyrighted material (TomsHardware Guide) that was embedded and linked in this thread has requested that the AnandTech Forums remove all embedded instances and off-site links to it.

In accordance with the AnandTech Forum Guidelines, members are allowed to talk about misappropriated information (as in "leaks") but when we are notified that the material in question is resident on our forums (be it links to pirated software or pirated benchmarks) we have little choice but to do the ethical/conscionable thing and remove those links and embedded pics.

AnandTech Forum Guidelines said:
3) No sharing or requesting pirated software. Discussions addressing piracy are allowed, but using the Forums as a hub or a school for pirates is not.

4) No posting of other's copyrighted material. Discussions of copyright are becoming increasingly important, but we will not allow the Forums to be used to violate any US law.

Just as you are allowed to talk about pirated movies or pirated software, you are allowed to discuss the leaked benches which are copyrighted Tom's Hardware property, just don't link to those leaked results (even if hosted on a 3rd party site) and do not embed them in your posts.

But you can speak to the numbers in them, you can discuss the bench results, etc. This is an unusual position for us to be in, but only because we so rarely get contacted with a take-down request.

So long as the other leaked content remains without a take-down request (the VR zone report for example) then you are free to continue linking and embedding those materials until such time that the content owners contact us with similar requests.

If you have questions or concerns on this moderator action we ask that you submit your inquiries through the proper channels, i.e. use the Moderator Discussions subforum.

An for the record, the OP of this thread did nothing wrong, this is not a sanction of their actions, its just the reality of melding the enthusiasm of our valued members with the business world.

That's it. There are 47 images, I somehow only got 46. I'm not feeling like sifting through all of it to find the one, deal with it

Average performance is 18% faster than HD7970 at 1080P. Nice. Price wars! HD7970 needs a price cut to $429-449 if the GTX680 is $499.

Dominant. Way more performance with a smaller die and less power usage. If this retails at $550, the 7970 won't be worth it unless it is at $450.

Interesting that in gaming benchmarks GK104 is head and shoulders above Tahiti, but it seems to fall way behind in compute. Has nVidia saved so much space and power by removing much of its compute power to focus solely on gaming, saving GK110 for the compute market?

Seems to be the case, yeah. Just like the GF104/114 gimped compute power but had killer gaming perf/watt.

That would make sense. Why add FP64 performance when 97% (random #) of gamers don't care for it? (us distributed computing guys do, but I don't expect 97% of people here to care). The more 'real world' benchmarks of video conversion using media espresso is prob. more useful vs. synthetic compute benches hardly anyone uses.

I imagine they had to remove a bunch of compute functionality to make it a lean die for the consumer market.

1080P performance lead is huge in some games.
1600P is not as impressive though.

I am very pleased with the Cataclysm frame rates and the Skyrim as well. That shows that the card is strong in both the DX9 and DX11 code paths.

It seems like Tom's followed the nvidia review guide to a T. The GTX 680 2GB looks like a sure card for 1080p gamers, but my question is - where's the high IQ testing (4xMSAA and 8xMSAA)? Also, why bother testing at 1680x1050 at all? This FXAA garbage that nvidia is pushing is really a turn for the worse. Anyway, looking forward to more reviews.

not much, but they did have the WoW @ 2560 x 1600 with 8xAA. Poor game choice but maybe gives somewhat of an idea

Thats not the full THG review though, is it?

There will be charts showing x1600, its just that those likely dont show the 680 in such a good light compared to the 7970.

Wow this thing is like 2% better than the 7970 where you really need it:

30" High-Resolution on BF3, Crysis and Metro

Cheap ass Nvidia... lol Who cares if it has 200 fps in HAWX2 and Dirt3, when its slower at 1600p than a 7970 in Metro and Crysis.

looks good. Personally I would like to see oc. vs oc. w/o voltage mods, since we know the 7970 o/c pretty well, and we don't know if the 680 is running close to it's maximum.

I'm assuming these benchmarks were performed using a stock clocked 680 and not one of the factory OC models?

Okay you win, buying 2 of them on release.

Yup, I'm hoping for 4GB versions close to release (running tri-monitor setup). If you already own a 7970, from quick glance, I don't think you'll see a subjective difference in most current games. I've been very happy with performance of 7970 (on some games a single 7970 did better at 5760*1080 than tri-sli 580's 1.5gb at 4k*900). If i based buying a 680 purely on performance vs. 7970 I probably wouldn't switch, but I found nvidia's surround much better in practice than eyefinity (with dual-dvi 120hz monitors). I also miss surround 3d-vision. Very niche market I know, but hey nvidia caters to it so that's what I prefer to go with.

I care as my monitors are 1080p like many many other people out there.

May very well be memory starved at 1600p. There's a reason a 4GB version is planned. Definitely the 2GB version is for 1080p gaming.
