seriously if the 680 drops at 499$ and its 20% faster than the 7970, how can they sell the 7970 for 500? even if its only 10% faster, its just not wise to spend the same money on a slower card!!!
I'd imagine it might see a price drop, but just look at these results it seems clear that the 680 will only hold an advantage in single monitor resolutions, particularly 1080p.
the 680 really starts to lose its lead at 2560 resolutions, and I'd wager will lose even more ground when we kick things up to triple monitor setups, even in CFX vs. SLI because the memory buffer and bandwidth does not carry over, the 7970's 3GB buffer and 384bit interface will make all the difference.
that being said, I don't think its an enviable position for AMD to be in. Having the king GPU for multi monitor setups doesn't seem like much of a consolation prize to me considering how clearly the 680 seems to be king of single monitors judging from these results if they hold true. Multi monitor gaming is such a tiny niche, nVidia looks to have a real winner here.
