If Nvidia ever gets there supply shortages sorted out the Lightning will be a good card just to bad we wont see it tell Christmas I presume. I would be more inclined to take interest in when the 680s refernce cards will even be in stock before I get all hot an bothered for the hotrodded lighting models.

Funny how Nvidia squeezed out just enough 680s to get them to all the major review publications then supply dried right up LOL

The people who actually wanted cards, and put in the effort, got them. I've gone through 4 already, and got them easily.

Lucky and limited I presume Newegg has been ass dry for a long time then they get a few and they are spoken for in an instant. Nvidia is playing "Sexy" Hardball I presume.

The 7970 Lightning was way too slow coming out. Then you couldn't get one.
I'd be more interested in the 700 series now.

None of the voltage unlocking will make much a difference vs. what is already out unless the vram can reach (and sustain) 7.5+ghz.

well triple voltage should be core pll and mem, so hopefully 1750mv mvddc for memory.

To be honest, I am over this generation of graphics card. Definitely waiting for a refresh. Bring 'em on!

Are you just trolling?

NewEgg has 4 different versions in stock right now. Amazon goes in and out of stock (ignoring the gougers)

Like the guy said, if you wanted one, you really had no trouble buying one. It might take 2-3 days, but they've been easy to get since release. My household has picked up 4 of them (2 for 2 different PCs) with no issue at all. One did take a week to arrive though.

Sorry I must of just breezed right past them I see three brands in stock for the 680s on Newegg and an Artric cooler. Personally I would avoid the Galaxy and PNY brands like the plague but that EVGA 680 is dead SEXY but they are still all to much money :-( and you can get the Sapphire 7970 for $100 less

I get it. You don't really care about performance, but more what the card looks like. Smart man...

You can't find a 680 if you "breeze right past" the ones in stock. This is true... That's user error though.

I would disagree with "no trouble buying one", they only recently started improving in availability. From launch up to about 2 weeks ago they were basically constantly out of stock, not sure why or how you would argue otherwise. But last week availability started to improve, so thats a good thing I guess.

All you had to do was check every hour or so and grab one though. Despite the "constantly out of stock" status, we managed to buy 4 here, all within a week of deciding we wanted an additional one.

They've constantly been coming in stock and being bought up. If you wanted one, you got one. It's just people who checked once a week or once every other week and assumed there were none around.

Nope I care about price/performance and 7970 has effectively = or close enough to the 680 for $100 less but you heard what you want and it seems you thinks it's cool to pay $100 more for the same end result effectively.

It was so easy to breeze past them cause there's a full Newegg page of GTX 680s 18 in total and only three of them are in stock LOL.

I'm well aware of what had to be done. I'm one of the ones that obtained it on the first week of availability, and your statement that it was easy to obtain is just wrong. Most people that got cards in the first 1.5 months of availability had to continually F5 newegg, use the statusegg application, or use the instock.net webpage, or use the check4change firefox addon.

Maybe your definition of "easy to obtain" is different than mine, most people with jobs don't have hours to stare at their computer screen and F5 or constantly wait for their email inbox to show an alert. It was hard to obtain up until a couple weeks ago, period. You are right if you were hellbent on getting one and had a day off of work it wasn't so bad, sure, I guess.

The point is moot now since availability improved as of last week (maybe something to do with TSMC giving nvidia more priority) but it certainly wasn't easy early on unless you put a heroic effort into it -- until recently.

Did you try to obtain one, or are you assuming? I dedicated, probably, 10 minutes a day total to checking while at work and had no issues. I see an awful lot of "never in stock", but I've yet to see an "I want one and can't get one"

A bit of a contradiction there, isn't it? I will agree that if you want to put in the effort you could find one. I've seen them in stock 2 times since their release at Newegg. That's hardly good for a retail product. It's not like they are supposed to be a limited production item.

Besides, just buy one of the better 670's. Save $100 and get no noticeable difference in performance.
