It's being argued because of the nvidiots have nothing else to throw at AMD. Let's get the thread back on track.

Good results, but the thing that struck out to me is they only got 1150MHz on the GPU? Not much of an overclock.

It's such a round number that I think it's software limited. Hardware limits will vary from sample to sample, of course.

It could be the best overclock the tester could get without voltage modification. Techpowerup's hd7970 topped out at 1075mhz, and Anand's and [H]'s hd7970 overclocking topped out at 1100mhz and 1125mhz (without volt mods) for the various hd7970's they had for reviews, so it's relatively in line with those results. If I'm right, it's indicative that gtx680 will have plenty of headroom with voltage modification.

lol ok then! I guess that's why AMD has had them blocked in their drivers for years now too! It all makes sense, Nvidia and AMD are conspiring against the greatest program ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oneoneoneone1

Actually only nvidia throttles by program recognition.
AMD throttles via a global wattage cap that doesn't care what program you have causing it.

Also nVidia throttles multiple commercial benchmarking products not just one "bad apple" so to speak.

And your "argument" that "nVidia throttling it because it is bad, that is proof that it is bad or nvidia wouldn't have throttled it" is circular logic.
The phrasing itself is "appeal to ridicule".

Both are fallacies and have no room in a discussion between adults.

I don't see any reason to respond to your opinions.

No, can you tell me because i r is stoopd.

Can you show me in my post where I said and I quote "nVidia throttling it because it is bad, that is proof that it is bad or nvidia wouldn't have throttled it"

As I said, I saw no reason to respond to a post that had no merit.

OCCT, like Furmark, is just a power virus, and I wouldn't count on it to reliably test your GPU. Really, all it does is test the efficiency of the cooling solution. Use strenuous gaming instead, as it'll load all components of the GPU evenly (instead of just maxing out the VRM's). Your clocks are going along well, and don't be afraid to push it to 1.225V as long as your temps stay low (and they're excellent so far). What are you VRM temp readings? Remember that the 7950 is the same chip and PCB as the 7970, just with parts disabled. Therefore, it'll have no problem running 7970 voltages and settings, and 7970's are fine up to 1.3V.

:awe:

What's it like being the worlds biggest tool, MrK6?
