I think I might sell my two 7950s that don't even actually work for one...

Crazy how Nvidia is getting their cake and eating AMD's

I ordered one and it will be here tomorrow. Only $21.00 to overnight ship on newegg. Cheaper than the 6% sales tax that Amazon charges.

Titan cost $1000, it was 40% more performance for 100% more price than GTX 680. Yet it sold like crazy.

GTX 780 cost, $650, it offer 30% more performance for 45% higher price. It will be Nvidia`s most selling GPU in a long time since it is waaay better price/performance than Titan.

GTX 780 will sell like hotcakes. Oh man how this GPU will sell.

This would have been a sweet 670 for $350-400 if they hadn't tried doubling prices this generation.

I'm not a mindless fanboi adoring a company that just rapes it's unwitting sheeple.
And by your argument I am sure you have an AMD CPU rather than join the Intel adoring fanbois and sheeples. :whiste: As with many other products, those seeking the best will not likely have value on top of their mind. Nobody is getting ripped off as you would like to portray. Most are enthusiasts who know exactly what they're buying and it seems thats what bugs you.

And btw, I dont see this in any way as a successor to the 570. Its a clear successor to the 680 with a decent increase over it. But we get it, your bitter that Nv has a winner that AMD cant touch for next 6 months. :whiste:

Good. It only took them 18 months to get a winner AMD can't touch. Pat yourself on the back for the astute observation.

It's too bad this card can't compete with 7970 in realistic terms which actually consider price, something the loyalists can't fathom. Congratulations, they released what the 680 should have been when it was released, over a year later and with the added bonus of charging more for it.

How much downward pressure on the GTX680 price will this release have if any?

None, because its $650 vs <$450 for a gtx680. Its only 20-25% faster than a 680 from a few reviews, so its not going to put any $$ pressure on 680 to drop in price. NV knows this, they do not want to hurt their own stack.

As AT's review puts it, its a niche product with low volume due to gk110 being popular for HPC markets. So they can price the consumer variant much higher than they would have if they wanted to moved it in larger volumes.

AMD is content on not making a huge die to compete so they leave that segment for enthusiasts with too much money and not enough sense in "value" to go with Titan and LE. As such there wont be price pressure from AMD either.

Not until 20nm next year.

BUHUUU, listen to all the AMD fanboys crying because Nvidia will cash in big bucks on this, and people will buy GTX 780 everywhere.

You guys are clueless. I laugh at your' attempts to always bring up price/performance when it never works that way.
GTX Titan cost 100% more than GTX 780, offered 40% better performance, yet sold like crazy.

Delicious AMD fanboy tears. Keep on whining.

While you're playing video games, do you ever just drift off and dream about how many cards Nvidia sells? Their sales figures? Fantasize about their revenue? Didn't think so. Why is that all you bring up? Lol

There's no indications that 20nm will be any cheaper, since demand on production will be insane from smartphones and tablet SoCs. They will pretty much take all the capacity so if NV/AMD wants part of the action they are going to have to bid higher for wafers.

Correction: AMD is incapable of producing a big die GPU. They suck at it, they tried it before and it was not good. Tahiti is a very inefficient GPU, trumped by GK110 in power/performance. So AMD is incapable of making something to compete against GTX Titan/GTX780.
They made 7990, but like all their tactics, it was a big epic fail because 690 have already been here for a year and 7990 OEM versions too.

Just compare GTX 780 and 7970GHz. Two different worlds.

What's crazy is who is mad shouldn't be, and who isn't should be.

It's the Nvidia fans who should be angry that the 570 successor is $650.

It's the AMD fans who should be happy their company still has a spot above $250 because they certainly don't deserve it, but lord knows they need it.

Do you have any idea how you sound? Like one of those girls screaming at a boy band concert. Crying and screaming NVIDIA! NVIDIA!!! Its sickening to read your posts they are that LAME. Seriously a little bit of sick went into my mouth reading your post.

Calling people clueless is funny given the 3 months you have been on this forum. You only ever post about how good the nvidia brand is. I mean you have zero clue about their products. You just scream for team green.

Please just report the inflammatory posts, rather than responding to them like this. The quoted post was infracted for being inflammatory (which leads to derailments like this post.) -Admin DrPizza

I believe you're right. These prices are caused by fab rates just as much as lack of competition. I expect both companies to release $600 top of the line video cards during the 20nm initial release next year.

Nice catch Sonty.

Really? Comparing OC vs ref cards.. which can be manually OC in a few seconds.. yeah, nice catch, not.

ie. "Maximum overclock on our card is 1035 MHz GPU clock (8% overclocking)" OC model pushes to the max already.

25% faster then the 680
45% more price.

Give it a rest already. Considering that GTX 780 has a better cooler, better materials, better build quality, better features (GPU Boost 2.0), and more VRAM than GTX 680, the price is reasonable for a high end card. Launch price of GTX 680 was $499 USD, so launch price of GTX 780 is 30% higher, even though performance [at 19x10 resolution] is 35% higher on average according to Geforce.com .
