The 7xx series is lame. Hardly any discussion because people are tired of being beaten over the head with nvidia's greed and trying to pass off refreshes as a next gen card.
wow. There are some pretty outrageous statements around here. Completely lacking any basis in reality.
Why would this card make amd sell the 7950/70 for less? The 7950 smokes it once both cards are overclocked.
Btw I paid $260 for my 7950 with free games.
Are you really asking this?
Uhm, let me see.................. because they kinda need to sell them!!!
You obviously are seeing things a little warped. Nvidia already has the largest majority of market and mind share. Although you may not be aware (or it is completely escaped your rational thinking), Nvidia commands just about two thirds of the discrete market share.

This is with their higher premiums.....or should we use your terms, all that "greed" and "beating people over the head". Nvidia tends to sell their GPUs at a higher price and they do quite well, as their ability to dominate the market shows. If they can outsell their competitor 2 to 1 with higher pricing, common sense should tell you that at a lower price the situation could only get worse for AMD. And overclocking is doing nothing to change this, it hasnt yet and isnt just suddenly going to.
To put in more perspective, AMD has about 20% of the x86 market last i checked. Instead of loosing, it is very important for them to gain market share in dGPU.
So to sum it up,
I can see you may not have a high opinion of nvidia and you think highly of AMD. There is nothing wrong with that. Its just in the real world you have to think past your opinions to get a grasp of whats really going on.
It would be a terrible tragedy if AMD took your stance on the matter. You know like, "the 7XX series is lame and everyone is tired of nvidia and why lower prices when the 7950 can overclock". It would not be very smart.
