I am late to the game... and CLI/SETIDriver/SETISpy are all running great and churning 8 WUs per day or so. How long until BOINC is up (I joined the beta and am running it as a *very seldom used* client on a laptop). Clearly BOINC is the future for distrubited computing because the open design will allow multiple projects to run at once, ie. 50% of my CPU to SETI and 50% to cancer research. The big question is when?
When do you think SETI@Home, the first version, will shutdown? I know it is nothing but a guess but do you think January? Maybe later spring? Or will the beta test of BOINC continue to move slowly and perhaps push into summer? I am excited to get in on the "ground floor" of a new DC project and while SETI@Home-1 coming to an end will be sad, BOINC looks tempting to me as it fufills my need to churn non-mainstream science (SETI) while also doing medical science, something I want to become involved with.
Thanks!
