I was doing some research on it and DRM as noted by Dark...won't buy one now. Should have known since it's coming from MS. There's too many restrictions on what you can play on the device.

Care to explain? None of my music has DRM so this probably doesn't effect me.

I was thinking about pulling the trigger on this Zune...
So wait a minute here, can I or can I NOT play non-drm music on this thing? I'm too tired to read the links above.
I either rip my own music, or buy DRM-free music from Amazon.
Will it play, and what are the restrictions?

I'm actually tempted by woot's frequent Zune deals, but money is too tight right now.

It plays MP3 and unprotected WMA just fine.
MS decided to ignore their existing "PlaysForSure" DRM, so you can't use it as a player for NapsterToGo or Rhapsody. I don't think you can even -buy- MS' DRM protected songs from Napster, Amazon, etc. you must buy them from the MS Zune Store.
The "squirting" of songs to other Zune owners (if you can find one) will still be useless even with the 11/13 firmware: the songs stop working after 3 plays.

Amazon was selling new ones for less, no?
Why buy refurbished?
