The wife of Trump's former HHS secretary has a solution:

The wife of former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, who is a Georgia state representative, reportedly proposed quarantining people with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

Georgia State Rep. Betty Price, a Republican physician, suggested the idea during a study committee this week, asking her colleagues whether such a move would be possible, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Conservative ideas at work.

Does this drug use count as cultural appropriation? Or are you simply welcoming Trump Co. to the club?

And does this poverty / drug / disease cycle count as the shedding of white privilege?

Keep thinking in these terms.

Well I for one am very, very happy that HIV is now starting to spread in a new group of people.

I mean, it's cause for both glee and celebration, amirite?

This is fucking sickening.

I don't think we should revel in schadenfreude here. There's nothing fun in living with HIV even if you never contract AIDS.

Rather, we should just work toward getting Trump and the Republican majority out of office so that we can get politicians who actually respect health care and sex education.

I'm not surprised. An uncle of mine, who used to swear HIV was government-engineered to kill gays, contracted it from a dirty needle back when it was a death sentence. I'm sure the idea that they won't get it because they're white and straight is at least partially alive in some areas.

I was hoping that the opiate crisis would reach a point where all the assholes saying addicts deserved it would have to admit they were wrong once it hit their own communities, but considering we had one sheriff refuse to use narcan to save people's lives and all the healthcare proposals so far would gut treatment options for addicts, it's clear the GOP is pro-life only on abortion and pro-death everywhere else.

Although I very much agree with your sentiments, the major stumbling block that I can see with that is the Repubs in Congress are firmly entrenched via their ridiculous gerrymandering of their districts, their very successful disingenuous propaganda campaign they've been running to divide and conquer the working class and that they are of the notion that gov't sponsored health care and sex education for the working class are expenses with no ROI for their very wealthy sponsors. Having health care being owned and operated by the private sector allows for a target rich and very profitable environment from which the for-profit health care, big Pharma and health insurance industries have become addicted to so much so that they have been very successful at preventing what other first world western democracies have successfully implemented in theirs.

The longer they can stave off the successful implementation of a fully gov't funded/operated universal health care program, the stronger their grip becomes on our politicians to the point where if you don't join them, you'll lose any election you plan to run in. Such is the power that ever increasing profits for these bloodsuckers can and have cast over our politicians.

Sure we should, it's funny and amusing and we should all be happy about it.

If you disagree you are Hitler.

It is kind of hilarious that the problems Republicans thought were of minorities they hate are now killing their own kids. Karma is a bitch this way. I wonder if they still think "AIDS is a cure, not a disease."
Why is this a problem? According to the state of CA, its not even a crime to intentionally spread HIV. It's no more inconvenient than the common cold! Odd thing from which to derive a sense of smug superiority.

First off, it's a misdemeanor now. Frankly, it was an ineffective law anyway. For the 26 years it was on the books, only seven people were charged with intentionally spreading HIV. It did more harm if it discouraged people to get tested.

Second off, nice deflection.

You are so smart. Enjoy spread of HIV in your equally smart community.

Maybe people in whose communities HIV is spreading should work on that. Instead, they are working on electing politicians who block Medicaid expansion, destabilize private insurance markets, and oppose needle exchanges. Maybe those communities deserve the HIV epidemics they are getting.

This is a strange thread, with several very odd and distasteful posts. I don't care for it. Politics has gone very weird in the Trump era.

It's not PC, but that's how Trump supporters prefer it, they want someone to tell it to them how it is. Well, that's how it is.

Opioid epidemic just growing in size.

Need major healthcare reform, and not simply getting people "care", but teaching doctors that prescribing for pain needs to be a lot more carefully considered.

They probably blame gays for creating the disease.

Well not much good on the opposition side either. Middle is pretty much gone and anyone who doesn't hate the "other" guy is to be hated or at least dismissed as well.

The deevolution of human society. It happens so fast.
