"How does the Obama administration compare to its predecessors? Earlier this year, Hartung did the math: Obama has brokered more arms deals than any administration since World War II. For immediate comparison, the George W. Bush administration approved $128.6 billion in arms export between 2001 and 2008.
"

Holy shit, I had no idea. I remember my civics teacher saying the best way for us to clean up was to sell to both sides of a conflict.

Since you guys aren't too keen on asking questions before you swallow any load that tells you what you want to hear. Let me ask you this: did the article compare apples to apples? For example, did Obama approve of the same exact or equivalent arms but in larger quantities or was it for completely different items that happened to be more expensive?

Basically, context matters.

It's in the presidential job description. Help American companies sell shit (including lots of weapons) to other countries.

Day-yum... imagine how much money we could make selling ICBM's with nuclear weapons... a turnkey operation- just enter the coordinates of the target & push a button....

We use 1960s tech in our ICBM system so I'm not sure they would sell well.

Weapons part doesn't sound like a very liberal/progressive position to me?

Why? Are you saying liberals and progressives are against weapons sales? Some might be, but lots of conservatives are too.

Silly to paint this as a left/right issue.

Are we finished pretending that you are a Democrat yet?

When in the fuck did Democrats turn into war mongering neocons?

I guess the deaths and displacement of millions of brown skinned people doesn't matter?

America can only compete with other countries on military & agriculture level, if we don't sell fire arms, beef & corn, what can we sell?
