Does anyone know if there are any spyware/adware removal programs that use can use on a server client base. The server can scan client machines for adware/spyware?

Hello Sultan

Before you do anything
1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Disable system restore, malware can come back through it.
3. Reboot into safe mode.
4. Close all browsers/windows explorer.

fix the following in hijackthis(kill the process in process viewer, if its there)
  • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A78860C8-EE1A-46DF-A97F-E3E6D433E80B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\2omh0k.dll
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EbatesMoeMoneyMaker0] "C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker\EbatesMoeMoneyMaker0.exe"
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
  • O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [lpdcd.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\lpdcd.exe /k
  • O16 - DPF: {E06E2E99-0AA1-11D4-ABA6-0060082AA75C} (GpcContainer Class) - https://qsii.webex.com/client/...ebex/webex/ieatgpc.cab
[/list]

Additional Steps

1. Clear your Temporary Files
2. Remove the following VIA instructions provided:
3. Delete the following file:
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\lpdcd.exe
4. Restart into normal windows

i had just enjoyed a few days without significant system problems brought on by vgaanti.exe and now my pc has another piece of spyware that i can't get rid of. i run norton, adaware, spybot, hijackthis and even killbox (which killed vgaanti.exe) and the application is still sitting there chewing up system resources and laughing at me. here's today's hijackthis log, the file in question is:

c:\windows\config\netiis.exe and netiis.exe rerun

help please...

Hello cohenfive,

Before you do anything
1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Disable system restore, malware can come back through it.
3. Reboot into safe mode.
4. Close all browsers/windows explorer.

fix the following in hijackthis(kill the process in process viewer, if its there, delete corrosponding file, if present)
  • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://qus8.hpwis.com/
  • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-qus8.hpwis.com/
  • R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-qus8.hpwis.com/
  • R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://srch-qus8.hpwis.com/
  • R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://srch-qus8.hpwis.com/
  • R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://qus8.hpwis.com/
  • R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
  • O2 - BHO: CATLEvents Object - {C69FA570-7FDE-4C49-A7BC-CB1CF24BE66B} - C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\siiten.dat
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [*playxml] C:\WINDOWS\java\classes\playxml.exe
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [*netiis] C:\WINDOWS\Config\netiis.exe
  • O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [*netiis] C:\WINDOWS\Config\netiis.exe rerun
  • O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [TrayX] C:\WINDOWS\winppr32.exe /sinc
  • O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Acme.PCHButton] C:\PROGRA~1\INSTAN~1\Presario\XPHNARS3EN\plugin\bin\pchbutton.exe

Additional Steps

1. Clear your Temporary Files
2. Remove the following VIA instructions provided:
SoBig Worm
3.Restart into normal windows

Hello Akaz1976,

Before you do anything
1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Disable system restore, malware can come back through it.
3. Reboot into safe mode.
4. Close all browsers/windows explorer.

fix the following in hijackthis(kill the process in process viewer, if its there)
  • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://qca8l.hpwis.com/

1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Download, but do not run, winsock fix. This is only to use incase your internet connection is killed by the malware that you removed.
3. Disable system restore, malware can come back through it.

it is safe to delete all of those 016 lines. They are just activeX entries and they are easily reinstalled if you need them later by visiting the site where you originally installed them from in the first place.

I can't seem to shake these entries.... is there a way to get rid of them? I'm still being hijacked!

I also used to get a Z Demon error in spybot but it went away when I downloaded version 131tx

N3 - Netscape 7: user_pref("browser.search.defaultengine", "engine://C%3A%5CProgram%20Files%5CNetscape%5CNetscape%5Csearchplugins%5CSBWeb_01.src"); (C:\Documents and Settings\Heather\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\ur1eqxag.slt\prefs.js)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {467FAEB2-5F5B-4c81-BAE0-2A4752CA7F4E} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\5YKZHU~1.DLL

this spyware (which is killing my system) cannot be removed by any means i know of.

i just tried to fix it in hijack this to no avail....then i used killbox (which killed my last problem, vgaanti.exe) and it didn't kill it either.

any suggestions? here is the location of the problem:

c:\windows\config\netiis.exe rerun

and

c:\windows\config\netiis.exe

i'm going to post this as well in the operating system forum....

try this, unless you set up a proxy server yourself..

fix the following in safe mode.

[*]R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/...avilion&pf=desktop
[*]R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/...avilion&pf=desktop

also posted on os forum:

here are the steps that i followed (from your playbook!!)...

1. disable system restore
2. boot into safe mode
3. ran hijack this and attempted to delete the relevent files from the list you suggested (including the netiis.exe and netiis.exe rerun files)
4. reran hijack this and saw that netiis.exe did not go away
5. ran killbox, tried to delete the above files on reboot
6. rebotted normally and those files were still there messing me up...

when i get home i will try the following:

1. system restore still disabled
2. boot into safe mode
3. go to windows\config and manually try to delete these. if they are in a sub-folder should i blow away the sub-folder or just the .exe files??

i will also peform the original processes again and will repost the hijack this file to see if you can find anything that continues to 'spawn' this application.

I have a new question, is it ok to leave those "016" entries?

it is safe to delete all of those 016 lines. They are just activeX entries and they are easily reinstalled if you need them later by visiting the site where you originally installed them from in the first place.

Thanks Schadenfroh!

Im having problems with my XP after loading, when I click on the start button, the start button kind of hangs for a little while about 30 sec. to 1 minute (I think it is waiting for a program to load or loading something) I tried to disable entries on the services.msc that (I think is not important, whichc is according to blackViper's site) but still the problem persist..

Anyway, what other entries I can saely remove? BTW I'll be trying your guide for free performance. Thanks a lot!
