Considering that the game has just recently been launched, this is a good deal. Other retailers are selling it for $49.99.

Man, this is so tempting. I love the fact that there is no monthly fee. My friends are getting into this too, but I fear this may take over my life.

It's not a MMORPG. Towns and stuff are massively multiplayer, but once you get a group you have to go and fight, or solo, in an individual area.

I played some of the beta and this game rocks. Good deal for $39.99. It was also a feature on G4TV.

THe game is good, but you don't get thousands of real ppl vs each other. It is limited to either PvE or up to 8v8 PvP.

I herd the game is great. I know down the road you will have to pay for updates. But not paying a monthly fee is a plus.

oh...I've been wondering what the limitations were...

On the other hand. in the meantime Blizzard can't seem to get massive PvP Raids to not lag like insane...when there's 50+ characters of both sides killing the crap out of each other and throwing hardware-taxing spells left and right that require the server to figure out who's hitting who for how much damage while your machine has to figure out how to display it all.....well it slows to a sludge...a horrible sludge of slideshows where you keep banging on your keyboard trying to throw a spell but it won't come out.

But if they managed to get it smooth I'd definitely rather play in a true MMORPG...since even the super ridiculously lagged wars are fun

That's like saying Diablo II is a MMORPG, everyone was online in chatrooms together and then they ventured out into instances. This is the same except the chatroom is a city.

from what i hear (and according to their site) you'll always be able to play the basic stuff, regardless of new expansions.

You *DO* realize that even though the monthly fee is free, to get any new content they're probably going to charge your ass the price of a regular MMO's monthly fee, right?

They'll most likely wait until the gaming rags and websites give them decent reviews before they spring that, though.

Hey there is no monthly fee!

Typically, only MMOs have monthly fees.

This is not an MMO. It's an RPG in the same sense as Diablo 2.

And it doesn't have a monthly fee. And they charge for expansions, no shit. So stop saying how much it rocks that they aren't charging you a subscription.

"DEAL - the city bus - only around 50c / mile and THEY DON'T CHARGE FOR GAS!!! "
"SWEET, NO GAS CHARGE!!"
"Yeah, but if you wanna get to another city they'll charge your ass a ton"

RANT.

OMFG! This getting so annoying. All these MMORPG fans keep pointing out that is not a true MMORPG or that you will have to pay $xx.xx for each expansion. STFU! If you don't like the game, don't buy it. The truth is that the game is incredibly fun and for $39.99, its worth it even if you just play for a month or two. (Warcraft would be $65 for two months).

For the last time, yes, it is not a MMORPG, but who cares. The game is fun and thats all that matters. Why don't you MMORPG monkies go into the software forum and anytime someone talks about a new cool game that isn't MMORPG (like a FPS or RTS), go in there and state that its not a MMORPG.

First and probably final rant has now concluded.

Its beautiful outside here today.

More accurately, you can have a max of 8v8v8v8v8v8v8v8 - Thats 8 teams of 8 on a PvP map maximum. I think thats a reasonable number. Not every map supports that many players, of course, but you will see these kinds of numbers in the Tombs.
