Well I think from the interview about micro transaction they said that you can trade gems, gold, and karma with each other. So people who don't want to spend real money can potentially buy gem items by trading in game gold for them and etc. So no ones really hurting. In a sense it all comes down to how much you think your time is worth?
+10% Magic Find for 3 Days - For 3 days, guild members have 10% better chance to find rare loot. Traveling Antique Shows are great!
+15% Karma from Events for 24 Hours - For 24 hours, your guild receives and additional 15% karma from all events.
etc.

Maybe there will be dyes that can't be obtained through the dye boxes, either that or the dyes you craft will be unlimited as well which would be kinda lame.
I don't see anything on that list that really bothers me, I like the idea of the transmutation stone though, I remember how ridiculously expensive certain weapons were just because of the model (like the chaos axe and the like).
trolling hard
I assume the dye box description is a bit off--I can't imagine those dyes being useable as many times as you want, right? I gather from the plant seed item that dye is harvested from plants...so if you pick up those boxes, and manage ot get all the colors through a collection of boxes, then you would never need to harvest dye ever again?
I mean--I like that, if true--it means I wouldn't have to create a character to store dyes, but I can't believe that is what is truly going on.
Hope the gems aren't too difficult/expensive to come by in-game, as of course many of those items will be essential on each character.
perfect req 10 +15% dmg unconditional crystalline sword my buddy had was worth on the order of 50 or 60 million gold, tied for the most expensive item in the game I'm fairly sure. D:
I'm with you on hoping that it doesn't happen again in GW2.
It is an unlocking system - once unlocked use whenever.
It is a pallet on UI so no carrying dyes.
