I had to jump on Best Buy for a prepurchase, anyone know how I get the beta key? Yes BB had all beta evernts listed as a prepurchase bonus.

If you bought it from BB the key should be located on your receipt somewhere. If not go back and complain until they give you one.

Are you serious? What about digital versions? And how can pre-orders be sold out? That's an oxymoron.

And what's up with the ridiculous pricing? $60 and $80? Should be $40 and $60 as it always was. Oh, and making people pre-order to get into beta is lame as hell.

I think they just don't want too many people joining the beta. I'm not sure if pre-purchasing is the only way to get in, people can probably still get into it from the sign up they had a while back but pre purchasing guarantees it. I don't think it's a stupid practice, people pre-purchasing are committed to playing the full game so their feedback is probably going to be better than a bunch of random people who are playing the beta like a demo just so they can try a free game for a weekend.

I'm probably going to make a charr tonight after work, I'm thinking my first mains in the full game will be human so I'll probably try out the norn and charr in the beta weekends.

I wish the Norn storyline didn't seem so mediocre.

I really like their aesthetics. I'm probably rolling Norn Guardian this weekend.

Read the thread. Open persistent word, various playable races, a refinement of the original Guild Wars skill system, dynamic events. There's a lot to like here.

Beta has yet to launch.

I can say that of those that tend to hate GW1; everything that you hated in that has been changed, while everything that made it great--the incomparable skill system--remains, and might be better.

well shit... the first 30 minutes of the beta has been more epic than anything i've ever done in WoW.

Well I spent about 2 hours in the game. I've been enjoying it with a friend. Some of the events are TOUGH. The renown hearts are pretty easy but getting into a legit dynamic event I was really struggling through them.

Really enjoying that. I find setting up my skill bar on the fly to be a pain. I think its an over time thing to familiarize yourself with your skills but my guardian seems to have so much to learn and not a lot of time to learn it in. I kinda want to sit in a city and work out a good skillset but why waste my Beta time?

I think the animations are a bit exaggerated and slow. Makes the combat feel slower than it actually is.

Well so far the game is absolutely unplayable. Skills won't fire yet enemies can still damage you (even melee ones that are 100m away from you) due to the lag. I understand it's beta but this is a low-pop server and it can't handle the population without terrible lag...

this lag is atrocious for everyone on server. I can't even equip my items, lol.

still fun, and i'm slowly getting the hang of things. Now to figure out how to fix my massively damaged gear...

it's server-side.

i think i'll bump the specs back down, though, to see if that is it.

But traditionally, with GW1, when you get waits on your skills, that means server is lagging like a sonofabitch. rubber-banding and all that.

Are you sure it's not isolated to the server and your PC, network connection?

Have you tried a different server? I'm on a medium pop server and everything has been pretty smooth so far. I was in a random world event with a lot of other people and it seemed to be moving pretty well so far.

Yea I've only had any kind of "lag" and that was framerate drops in a really intense dynamic event.

Hardware Compatibility

Display: the graphics-settings slider has only a minor impact on performance at this time.
We are currently optimizing Guild Wars 2, making ongoing improvements to the game’s frame rate. Presently, the game is CPU-bound on most high-end systems, so lowering graphics settings or upgrading your video card may not have a large impact on performance.
On older or lower-end machines, it is recommended that you try disabling reflections to improve frame rate.

The rubberbanding/lag is based on what area you are in...I was even put in a queue at one point due to an overload. Chances are those who haven't experienced the lag are ahead of the curve.
