Funny, Green Man Gaming has taken the game off their website. I have a ticket open about it that hasn't been assigned in over 24 hours.

Ya, greenmangaming hasn't answered my ticket, but from the forum, they're out of keys.

So no 25% off.

They supposedly have new keys now, but not pre-purchase keys, so they don't qualify for the 3-day head start.

You're right, hours ago it wasn't there.

Think the digital deluxe edition is worth it? Sounded like it has a 'one time 5-day banking' bonus for one thing, pretty useless, mainly a 'wolf summon' is the bonus.

Does the current pre-release still get the +2 ring, and how useful is that?

+2 to all attributes will be ok until level 20 (there are 2 ting slots, not sure how many you can do per character).
Then it depends on how good looking the skin of it is.
Aside from the elite skill and the bank golem, you also get a minipet, some influence bonus that allows your guild to develop faster and some pvp currency.

$20 on the cash shop will allow you to buy 2 extra character slots or 2x bank panes (30 slots each) and a bag slot (single character - up to 20 extra slots).

The bank bonus only lasts 5 days though, right?

When you mention what $20 gets, that's not included, you mean instead of deluxe, right?

Well I know its been asked before, But I would be all for creating a AT guild (not exclusive of course) on any server people think will be a good one.

The golem is basically an access to your bank from anywhere for 5 days.

Yes, instead of deluze, using the $20 saved.

If you save the money by buying the standard you can potentially use those $20 in the game cash shop and make your own box of perks.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store
$10 = 800 gem

Bag Slot Expansion 400 Gem for 1 - Add an extra bag slot to your inventory. Each character can have up to 7 bag slots.

Bank Tab Expansion 600 Gem for 1 - Add additional storage to your bank (30 slots.) Any character on your account can access the storage in your bank. You can have up to 8 bank tabs on your account.

Character Slot Expansion 800 Gem for 1 - Gives an additional character slot.

These are the most useful in my opinion, but there is a ton of crap, from funny useless crap to small time savers (I used some boosters during beta to test them, but their effects aren't that big, just a few minutes shaved here and there).

Thanks. It's this 'for 5 days' things that's unclear. It sounds like a one-time use. If not, why make it 5 days, if you just re-use it after 5 days? Overall: digital deluxe worth it for $15?

You can use it for how many times you want for 5 days after first use. Don't know if it is game time or regular time.

Note you can find Bank Access Express in the gem store that read "Each portal allows access to your bank from anywhere once", Black Lion Merchant Express "Allows you to summon a merchant anywhere. This merchant has some basic items for sale and will buy any items you have. The merchant is usable by anyone and remains in the world for 5 minutes." and Black Lion Trader Express "Allows you to summon a Black Lion Trader giving you access to Trading Post pick up anywhere. The Black Lion Trader is usable by anyone and remains in the world for 5 minutes." (all cost 35 gems per 1, 125 gems per 5)

It is just an initial time save.

I'm not sure but probably this golem also offer repairs and merchant services.

Nothing in the package is a game breaker - some conveniences and time savers, an elite skill that will be useful once you hit level 30 until you unlock other more useful elites and then will just be a flashy thing and an exclusive mini pet.

If you are undecided, Anet said players will be able to upgrade their standard edition to digital deluxe at a later time.

in beta i blew all my gems on bag slots. or at least that's the first thing i went for. having the collections tab means you probably won't need a whole lot of bank space for a while.

the character slots is more so personal preference... i know i'll probably only play 1 character for a LONG while. but that's just me.

Despite my complaints about the game, I've decided to pick up a copy. $45 is cheap enough, $60 just seemed like a lot of money to throw into a game I might stop playing in a month.

I just find it funny, they plan a stress test outside of peak hours. I would think for a stress test you would want to run it at the most optimum peak hour to try and max the server out as much as possible.

Not really. If you got enough testers you can just balance loads and change parameters.

It is Europe peak hours.

Europe player base is higher than NA player base even with the rest of the world playing on NA servers.

You can, but that won't show what happens at worst case scenario. What if the highest parameter somehow gets bypassed? Will a server handle it?

Though with their "Overflow" server idea they showed off in the beta was pretty nifty.

Actually 12pm PST is 8-9pm (closest spot of Europe) time. It actually just hits the end of the European peak hours, and also being a week night (however not knowing how europe handles its weeknights) is another non maxing the stress.

In GW1, other than weekends, the period from 20-02 CET always seemed the busiest.

Generally Europe would lose the favor of the gods (when favor was determined by HoH) at around 02:00 to America.

It is possible that the GW2 community is younger and play at earlier hours, but there is a ton of germans/french playing at those times.

As I mentioned in another post is, what's funny is that someone who will play this game a lot for years also pays just that $60. That's an 'economic inefficiency' in the pricing.

If two people go to a movie, and one hates it and one loves it, one can have overpaid while the other underpaid for the value - but they both got a similar product.

But this is why 'f2p' type things are taking off - charging $60 for both the 'hates it' player who spend 2 hours and the 'loves it' player who spends years is problematic.

A model like 'F2P' is much better at getting the player who spends years to spend a lot more than $60, while letting the 'hates it player' try it for free.

As I mentioned in that other post, though, a downside is the corruption of the game design in F2P to make the game a lot less enjoyable for free players.

How many people who play for years would spend $500 for this game as one purchase?

This doesn't even get into the issue of how some games, which are played for years, can be a harm to other games - preventing people buying them.

If you're totally into 'Guild Wars' and play it for years, maybe you don't need to buy twenty other games you would have, that are played for 10 or 20 hours and that's it.

Going back to my movie analogy, there are few if any movies that will get people watching them so many times that they don't buy other movies. Two hours, on to another.

I don't mean to criticize what seems great for consumers of years of gaming for $60, but it does raise issues if we want a strong industry making a lot of expensive games.

It's ok when it's an exception, but if it became common, we'd see the gaming industry funding plummet and many fewer games.
