One thing I haven't seen coverage of a lot is the new revamped Trait system.
Essentially from what I saw you get 70 trait points at level 80 (Someone was testing WvW and was bolstered to 80) sounds like 1 point every level after 10 I guess? You can put them into different categories based on your profession. I saw a video of a nercomancer so they had like Blood Magic, Death Magic, Spite things like that. There were 5 different categories and you could put 30 points into each.
I didn't watch the video for very long to see what all the categories did but each one seemed to provide a bonus on a per point basis. So Spite gave 10 power and 1% condition duration per point Curses gave 10% condition damage per point and 10 precision etc. Then every 5 points you got either a passive trait bonus or essentially a glyph slot. So 5 is a bonus, 10 is a slot, 15 is a bonus, 20 a slot, 25 a bonus 30 a slot.
So sticking with Spite their 5, 15, 25 bonuses were:
- You gain life when ever you kill something
- Power is converted into Healing
- +90 Power under 25% health
And the possible glyphs for the 10,20 and 30 slots were:
- Extra damage with Axe skills
- Each non-recharging signet adds attack power
- Deal more damage while downed
- Increased Focus range
- Cast Chilblains at 25% health
- Gain Retaliation when entering deathshroud
- Apply spinal shivers to enemies near you when entering deathshroud
The slottable glyphs are different on a per "tree" or category basis. Seems like a decent way to customize your character. I don't know a ton about Nercos but this tree seemed to focus on using an Axe and a Focus for close range debuffing and survival at that close range. Might be a great place to put a few points too for a really offensive or slightly defensive build with the power bonus and health regen at 5 points.
Oh and of course like everything else all traits can be reset at any time outside of combat. At least in the press beta they were.
Most of the new traits are up on the wiki now:
