I think I might pre order this. I loved the first GW and bought every "expansion" for it. From what I'm seeing it'll still be fine to solo which is what I did in the first one too. Now just to check where I can get the best pre order freebies.

I had fun trying out the necro though which is a way different then normal class i would play.

personally i like the holy trinity route.

Having everyone do there own thing is asking for a cluster of people thinking they are rambo, yelling healer healer, only to have the other team mates look at you funny, saying... what did u think u were a tank in a tankless game?


Anyhow i asked Keith if he could give us a sticky.. i'll see what he says.
If we do get a sticky can i ask the original poster to edit his first post so:

1. Shows us where we can get the game... ie.. the guildwars 2 web page, or other reputable sources... (no ebay, or private deal links.)
2. US servers, and EU servers which most of us will go on, so new views can look at first post and see where the majority of the people are at.
3. Early Start Date, and Official Launch date.

If this becomes a sticky, the first post should answer the basic of questions.

personally i like the holy trinity route.

Holy trinity is really a terrible idea in this game, given how it's structured with skills. I personally hate the holy trinity because it's only ever balanced towards damage dealers.

actually i thought it was completely balanced....

Your tank, cant do anything but run around like a headless chicken.
Your DPS cant do anything but support a Tank who is running arround like a headless chicken.
Your Healer cant do anything but make sure the headless chicken comes out with his head intact!



I guess after HOURS of same gameplay it does get boring.

However.. during the BWE... i saw a bunch of warriors/rangers/gaurdians thinking they were hotshots, run up to a BOSS dragon, and get 2 hitted.
Then were running around picking up the fallen warriors....

I think holy trinity in general is a poor idea - we're over a decade past EQ / DAoC, where it really "began" in terms of MMO play. The idea of a holy trinity really makes PvP inbalanced, meaning that the organized groups with the balance of a trinity will wipe out zergs. That's bad for your casual fans, where a majority of your money comes from.

GW2 seems to be the first game that is challenging that.

basically--it is nothing like the original.

no instanced explorables and hireable mercs. It is still skill-based, but only a small fraction of the type of skills found in GW1.

I was somewhat disappointed that the trinity wasn't an option either, but when I thought about it more it doesn't seem like it can fit in this game. The trinity is fundamentally about optimization. With a baseline of any combination goes, you run into a balancing issue. Content becomes too easy for optimized groups, but balanced for the rest. In the end it wouldn't be fun because there would be no challenge for people who like to maximize.

I liked the elamentalist. Only class I played though, but it was fun.

Anyone recommend a new keyboard? I find my old Logitech G15 to huge now to use. The newer G series don't appear any better. I also like the macro keys, but don't need the 18 it has. Maybe 6 or so..keyboard shopping is the worst. lol

Super excited for this game. In part because I love pvp on a grand scale and GW2 delivers that and secondly because I've played enough of the beta to know the game is good and I am going to enjoy it. So I'm not worried about disappointment. :thumbsup:

Come on Saturday. Heck, I might stay up late if it is going live at midnight Friday night.

I'm guessing noonish PCT on Saturday, as with the other beta events. Of course, they could go live up to an hour earlier, which is a near certainty (as they have done with events). ....maybe even earlier.

Early access starts at 12am PST on Saturday (They actually stated that the servers might be live up to 3 hours before that)

The problem with the trinity model is that they start balancing the computer opponents based on having a quality person at each position. No more days of p&p d&d where the dm could scale the encounter based on members present. Now to challenge a "well rounded party" very spiky damage is include along with enrage timers.

the dedicated healer has always been around since RPG days.

You cant tell me while playing final fantasy, you didnt set up one of your mage with heal duty...
