yeah in one of the recent stress tests i wanted to kill the last 10 mins or so and was unbelievably shocked to find out how much xp you can make from crafting.


makes me regret selling off all my mats lol

devs said 10 lvls is possible though 1 complete tree of crafting.
So we have 2 crafting tree's which means 20 lvls possible.

however nothing beats exploration.
You can quite honestly get from lvl4-> lvl10 just from exploration in divinity's reach.

once you figure out the system, it becomes a highly efficient way of leveling. it scales down quickly from item to item, after you've hit a certain crafting level (the vitality runes give a metric shit ton of crafting XP early on), but you just keep heading up to higher quality items of course.

Problem is, you spend too much time on it, you start crafting gear that is ~5 levels above you. But, it can all be sold on the market.

which server are the AT peeps plannig on playing on?

most of us on US servers will be on Stormbuff.
We have no clue on the EU servers tho.

Yup....

And a little tip on crafting...
Discoveries is the best way to lvl up.
So discover new forumulas using the modifers u make, like the heal, vitality, malign, might tabs.

Whatever your missing, discover it, b4 u do the conventional build 1 thing and milk it to you get no exp route.

Example:
When you start, you get like 1 type of gloves.. might gloves.
Discover Health gloves, and Vitality gloves, b4 u start pumping something in masses.


Also Crafting...
Personally i like to start maxing armor crafting first.
The reason is simple... there is no other crafting which u can build more then 3 items off except armor.
So what makes the most sense to lvl up?
Weapons where u can get at max 4, artificer which you can get 3, cooking which is broken, or armor smith which u can get 5?

probably not such a big deal--with guilds allowing members from any server, ability to join multiple guilds, and the server "guesting" function, so that you can play with whomever you want, regardless of which server they are on (Assuming this is not true for PvP)

So who's starting the guild on Stormbluff? And, does AT's guild want/need a vent/teamspeak/mumble server? I could toss one up on a VM in my DC.

Looks like me and my boys and friends are headed to Maguuma.

I think the only place it matters what server you are on is WvW, correct?

This concerns me a little (from wiki.guildwars2.com):

Guesting

Guesting will not be available at launch but is still planned.[4] Players will be able to visit other worlds as guests as long as they have friends on those worlds. This feature is free, but guest players will not be able to enter World versus World PvP[2] and the power of the Mists bonuses from their home world will continue to apply to their characters.[3]

Any one know if that has been fixed?

Last I heard, Guesting will still not be in at launch. I think they will add it quickly after the game goes live. They have also said that homeworld server transfers will be free for a while, at least until Guesting is implemented.

I still don't know where my old GW1 guild is rolling, but it's been so long since I've interacted with most of them (old leader finally returned to the game not too long ago--not that I've been on much myself), and it looks like he's probably planning a guild of mostly DAoC buddies. May not be the same thing for me.

Either way, I'm rolling on stormbluff at launch. should we get some open discussion on a dedicated guild? should we make an AT exclusive guild? I know that I have a handful of people from all over the place that I will likely be playing with, so I'd rather a hybrid with whoever the hell wants to join.

That being said, I'm open to launching something with whomever wants to get something going. I'm not terribly interested in being a guild leader. Officer, maybe, but such things aren't very important to me either way.

That being said, I foresee myself being on this game way too much to start, so I'll certainly be a dependable resource for a guild.

Yeah, something informal is definitely the best way to go about it. Open to anyone, not just AT.

I don't think I'd like to lead it, but I could do the officer thing, as I suspect I'll be online frequently enough to invite people, but that's about it.

But definitely something simple and informal and what not.

This is a great way to figure out what race/class combo you want to play before pouring hours into it.

hen the game launches your first focus should be on claiming your name. Do that by clicking the skip to end button and making a throw away character with the name that you want. Then log that character into the game, log back out to character creation and delete it. The name will be saved to your account for 24 hours, giving you plenty of time to start working out what profession will best suit you.

Start by picking a race and a profession (I wouldn't worry about appearance too much at this point) and give it the name you reserved. Then log it into the game. Run through the initial area (should be relatively quick). Once you kill the big thing and get ported to the normal zone open your hero panel (default is H) and on the left side there will be a bunch of tabs. Open the PvP one and there should be a button labeled Heart of the Mists. Click that and it will bring you to the tutorial portion of the heart. Do the tutorial. After the tutorial you will be instructed to go through a portal which will take you to the actual heart.

In the heart you will be scaled up to level 80. You will have all traits, utilities, runes, sigils, weapons available to you. The only ones you won't have will be the racial ones. There are venders there who will offer you all those things at no charge. You will start with a default setup of everything. Feel free to pick up other weapons to play with and to look at the various runes/sigils/amulets available. To the east there will be the two named NPCs from the sPvP environments, golems in each armor type as well as a group of soldiers. On the path towards that end of the island you will run across a golem who windmills around to help you learn dodging. To the west there are more golems. Golems who run paths so you can practice crippling and killing a runner. Golems who will attack you as if they were one of the other player professions. Large groups of golems to let you play with AE tactics.

The whole place is like a giant MMO amusement park and it's the best place to figure out what profession best suits you. Hell, it's probably the best feature I've ever seen in any MMO I've played to date. Certainly wish SWTOR had had something like that before I threw however many hours into a Jedi Sentinel just to find that I couldn't stand the animation for it's main talented attack.

Same, I may be on quite often myself... first time in about 6 months I may be online on a game for more than an hour or 2 in a sitting.

Also I will probably be going to stormbluff now, had to convince a few people I knew first. So I would be up for this guild as well. I can lead it or just follow in it. Doesnt matter to me as Guild leaders dont do much. However, people should think of a good name for it.

I am partial to <Once More into Battle> [OMB]

Pretty sure i am going Rogue (i always go rogue...) I did not play anything past lvl 10ish though, anyone have any insight on the higher lvl rogues and what weapon setups you used? Also not sure on race yet, leaning towards Norn at this point.
