I've been playing for about 3 hours and I'm still in the beginning area. I'm trying to complete it before moving on.

How long are you guys spending in the first area?

Damn, thia game is really fun but a little confusing at first...
The menus, the skills/traits, equipement, quests...
All is presented in a unique way it's really cool but for me it took some time to get used to.

-Like the quests...they're not really quests they're events that occure in which everyone in the vicinity can participate in. Great idea! And from what I saw, you get a kind of "Culture" quest that you can follow that reminds me of the one from Age of Conan. Probably a cool reward at the end?!?!

-Character creation is another cool featuer where you chosse some background aspect about your toon. But as I understand it, on level up you sometimes get Skill Points and sometime don't? Anything else you get when you level up apart from auto stats boost?

-Exploration is somewhat rewarding with skill point "challenges", Vistas, POI scattered around the map and events everywhere.

I started a Norn Warrior named Cromnar on Stormbluff server/world. I'm gonna try my hands on Weapon and Armor smithing.

Anything else I should know about this game?
Can you simply venture around and do events with people there and do nothing else?
At what level can you start PvP/WvW?

You can do the events for exp, the personal story also rewards you for doing things in game.

Skills you acquire as you use a spell, they "level up" as you play and kill stuff.
Traits is the most important thing. That determines what you want character to progress towards. Remember you will have 80 points at level 80 so you won't really mess it up much. Just invest in one that you know for sure. You can invest in two complete lines and part of another.

You can start WvW the second you are done with tutorial. You can level to 80 in wvw if you want. Those not as easy.

Remember, Crafting also gives you exp to level.
I'm level 16 atm and i've gained 2 of those just crafting.

Is there a way to reset your trait points, or once spent are you stuck with them? Going all damage as an Elementalist, but think the survivability traits (toughness, vit) might be required in PVP.

so in the end i went artificer/tailor on my mes... so far not regretting it. i've probably gained at least 2 levels from discovering things in artificing. so far i haven't made anything that i'd want to use, but i'm also only at 25 right now. i did actually use some of the last stuff i made with tailoring. +cnd dmg baby. love it.

Are they planning to expand capacity so the overflow isnt needed? Overflow vs being in the zone is like night and day. I was running around last night killing things on my warrior in the overflow and couldnt find any events firing off. I finally got put into the zone and within 5 mins completed 2 events.

Traits can be reset by trainers. Costs coin.

pvp is a mixed bad right now. You can't solo hardly anyone as a damage dealer. Its all about the heals. I spent about a hour fighting today and killed only 1 person with elementalist in RvR. Just to many heals to do anything.

10 jute + 3 glittering dust = 8 slot invisible bag.

discovering that will bump you around 3 or 4 levels in crafting, depending on when you do it (maybe more--I think you can first use dust at level 25)

spam the insignias, as each is worth a decent chunk, and use them in discovering. discoveries tend to be better than the given recipes, anyway (and of course greater XP)

I couldn't really get into the Norn world so much, though I think it's gorgeous. You want an eye-opening experience for this game, head to LA (Asuran portal in Hoelbreck), and take the portal to the Chaar world--The Black CItadel. Ashford Plains starting area is the most punishing introduction to any game I have ever seen.

yeah that's essentially what i've been doing... just making insignias and then making every type of weapon with every modifier for the discovery.

it's just a bummer that the trading post is down... makes it a lot harder to get all those secondary materials you need for the insignias.

Got my tailoring to around 40, and see I can't even make wool bolts til 75?

It takes a ton of Jute to make the parts... am I looking at farming lvls far under me (all I get now is wool)?

Salvaging should net a lot, I salvaged nearly everything since money hasn't been an issue thus far and was able to get leatherworking to 50 without too much effort. That actually makes me wonder... what is it I should be spending my coins on in the game? I have roughly 35 silver at level 19 thus far and I must be missing something because for armor/weapons I simply rely on drops, crafting, and karma dealers.

You can do both, soloing is actually more fun like it lots of games . However its the same story even in wvw. Hardly anyone actually dies and has to respawn.
