there's a coupon floating around for a Guinness mail in rebate. i don't know how good their rebates are, but i'll bite.

here is the link to the coupon on the vendors own site (i.e., allowed by forum rules)
Guinness, woohoo!

[edit: added link--thanks wsmith5]

Original Company Link use by signing up at Guinness website (not necessary if you use the link above--tracking numbers are identical for all coupons)

i put the original link on the company website back up--use it by signing up on their site. i think you can just go ahead and print the image from the other link without signing up though, since the coupon itself is not restricted by any membership. the original link is just the same exact image of the coupon that you have to print out anyway.

my friends just use irish cream in the shot. but usually the shot contains a 1:1 mix of irish cream and whiskey.

I say this and I do not drink and I have never even tried an irish car bomb. I praise this because my roommates and their friends drank this nearly every friday.

Guiness on tap-excellent. Guiness from bottle-very good. Guiness in can, at least from the one six pack I bought about a month ago-borderline undrinkably bad. YMMV.

I got this e-mail, the tracking number on my coupon is the same as the one linked so I don't think they're different. You shouldn't have any issues sending this in.

So you've got to subscribe at Guinness.com to get this deal? Too bad it's not for the draught canned version, that's way better.

True

Guiness from bottle-very good.
True, but only if you're talking about the extra stout (hopefully you're not talking about the garbage they're trying to pass off as Guinness here)

Guiness in can, at least from the one six pack I bought about a month ago-borderline undrinkably bad. YMMV.
You've got to be kidding! Guiness in the can bad!?!?
Maybe if it's old and crusty when you buy it...?

Come to think of it, canned Guinness doesn't even come in 6-packs (4 and 8-packs only).

I guess this is for bottles. Everytime I have tried guiness stout in bottles, it tasted like bitter a$$.

Even on tap it can be crappy if the kegs aren't recycled fast enough or the line isn't cleared for a fresh gentle pour.

The cans... well when they first put out the cans with the "widget" I had some great ones comparable to a decent tap. They changed the widget to a cheaper floating widget (used to be fixed at the bottom of the can) a while back and every can I have tried it since has been flat and rather nasty.

Yeah I'd be pretty scared if i bought a six pack of cans, since they don't exist. Only 4 packs and 8 packs of Guinness Draught cans =) Anyways, the can's are the next best thing if you can't get it on tap, you just gotta remember you're suppose to pour it into a pint glass immediately after opening, but if you get it in the draught bottles, your not suppose to pour it into a glass because the widget system releases nitrogen slowly each time the bottle is tipped back.

I do pour ASAP from the can but it still tastes flat and stale. I havent tried the draft bottles yet (well that is... I dont remember ) you say they are better or worse then the cans. Like I explained before I think the cans went from good to craptacular.

and p.s. I am drinking alot of Theakston's Old Peculiar, not exactly a stout but it's an awesome dark ale. Try it out.

You need to pour the entire contents into a large-enough glass immediately after opening. Do that and it works well. It's not going to work at all if you're trying to drink it straight from the can. (Besides, drinking beer straight out of a can or bottle is uncivilized. )

I was aware of the widget and how it works. It was a brand new pack bought from a major liquor store. In frank it was a little more than a month ago, because I got it just before St. Patty's day-when Guinesss does a major effort to stock the shelves. I tried it on at least two separate occassions, each time doing a single pour full size glass or mug-once fast, once slow. Each time it was terrible, truly shockingly bad. I suppose I could figure out if it was a four or six pack by looking how many cans remain in the refrigerator-but I think I already threw the remainder away.

I'm a former homebrewer and my worst diaster tasted far better than the Guiness from a can I tried. YMMV.

Guiness is great...though with my consumption I am sticking to miller lite/bud light.

I remeber in college I made a room border with all guiness box labels.

My ex-wifes family was talking about AA for me

If you like Bud Light you should try Tennents (Scotland's #1 beer). I perfer it over Bud Light and I'm a native of Saint Louis, home of Budweiser.
