Guitar Hero 3 guitar issues

I got Guitar Hero 3 with the wireless guitar for Christmas and bought Rock Band standalone to play on it. I've mainly been playing Rock Band, but that's neither here nor there.

I've run into an issue where when I'm holding notes and hit the whammy bar, it deactivates the held keys. I've changed batteries as well as reconnected the guitar to the Xbox. The neck also doesn't attach completely to the body of the guitar. I can push it in a half inch or so even when it's locked in.

Are these problems that others have had, or did I get a bum guitar? Thanks.

That's most definitely the culprit right there. Mine separates a little and my notes will cut out (but not just when using the whammy bar). Did you buy it at a place you can return it easily (Costco)? If not, I'd look around Activision's site for an RMA form, because that's totally unacceptable.

Thankfully, my wife kept the receipt and I just got a new one that works fine.

My girlfriend's wireless guitar doesn't separate at all, and she has no problems. I think that's probably what the problem was.
