I'm looking for some nice guitar strings. However, I don't know much about them. Which brand/kind is best for having clear sound, deep lows, thick strings, "slippery" feel, and won't make your fingers hurt even after 10+ mins of playing?

thanks

I used to like elixers but they're expensive. I'm not picky really....Ernie Ball Super Slinkies or Slinkies or Dean Martins...

Meh, I haven't played in so long I may as well never touch it agian.

My Strat's using D'addario and Fenders, pretty high quality and popular. Not sure what my acoustic uses (cheap and not really mine).

Also, Ernie Ball and Dean Martin is great. You can't 'really' go wrong with any brand, but some may be of slightly different quality, have a different tone or just more popular with musicians. Go to a guitar store or buy some off Musician's Friend online (look at the reviews here).

I went to the guitar store the other day and I loved the Taylor's guitar strings. Anyone know what kind of guitar string Taylor uses?

i like elixers but for some reason my local Guitar Center stopped stocking them (the tech told me some dispute with the elixer manf). Anyway, he recommended me some Dean Martins with a similar coating. They play fine for me (i dont play live shows or anything) and were 1/3 the price, about $6.

Check their website, google it, or ask at the store.

Ya I like my Ernie Ball regular slinkys a lot. It would be nicer if they lasted longer, but I don't like the feel of coated strings.

I'm using Dean Martins on my acoustic, but I like D'Addario too.

LOL- have you tried the Jerry Lewis brand as well? They're not played as straight as the Dean Martins but they sound a bit funnier. People in France love them

(BTW- I think you meant Dean Markley heheheh)

Here's exactly what you're looking for. Light, D'Addario EXPs. It's a cheaper version of the Elixirs which have that "slippery" feel to them (coated strings). They have great clarity and won't hurt your fingers because of the lighter gauge.

I've used them for some time now and have never been disappointed.

I like D'addario better than Ernie Ball myself. I liked the Elixirs for a while but stopped using them because I found the webbing to take away from the sound some.
