Gulf Shores, AL

We've got a group of guys from work heading down to Gulf Shores, AL for the weekend (free condo so hey, couldn't say no). I went once in college and it really wasn't that great but then again I never bothered to ask ATOT where to go.

So, I'm still doubtful that anything exciting happens at that place but if you know of any good bars/clubs in the area let me know.

it's a pretty happenin place, plenty to do, plenty of women. you wont be disappointed.

Going in May...but it is a family trip so I doubt we have the same plans.

There is a restaurant there called LuLu's that is owned by Jimmy Buffet. Ate there last year and it was pretty good. Kinda touristy but you kind of expect that there.

Come one over about another hour or little more to Pensacola Beach... Although its been unusually cold here the last few days.

Go to Lamberts(i think it's in Foley, AL... ~15 min away) Great food!

LuLu's is owned by Jimmy Buffet's sister, good food, but it's loud. They normally have a band playing so it's hard to have a conversation at your table. Plus, it's normally really crowded so the wait will be long.

Closer to the beach is the Original Oyster House which is very good. If you go east on the beach road there's a place called Live Bait that is really good. They have a venue behind the resturant that bands can play, I think there's a bar as well.

Lambert's is always a good place to eat. That's where they throw rolls to you from across the room. The food is awesome as well.

As far as bars, there's a Pink Pony Pub that's on the beach as well as a couple others.

I like gulf shores - but it's quiet. Not really anywhere to party unless you drive to pensacola.

A hurricane hit a couple years back - dunno if it's really recovered.

It has recovered. I was there last year May. Some of the ground-floor rooms were still being worked on but everything was open just fine. They had even brought out some fresh sand to shore up the beaches.

It was my first time there as an adult and it was pretty nice.

Yes I'm in Pensacola. In my fair honest opinion, your much better off coming here rather than gulf shores. There is "more" to do (although its still northwest FL area) and the beaches are nicer. But free condo is free.

Lamberts is good if you decide to go there. As for Pensacola the list as follows (from best to worst of the "best" restaurants in Pensacola). McGuires, Copelands, Fish House / Angus, Flounders (right on the beach), Bone Fish Grill. Plenty of what you need right on the beach. A bar close enough the waves can crash on it and the "boardwalk" which is stumbling distance from the Gulf.
