Hmm, last time I visited Rio I got there two days after a massacre in which 12 bandits armed with AK-47s had held up a casino...now before all the pro-gun forces can chime in - I don't care what sidearm you're carrying, you and a dozen like you are not going to go against 12 bad guys armed with assault rifles and lots of magazines each. You would need a lot of body bags...for all the people killed who were in the way.

Brazil is a country dangerously close to spiraling out of control, and the lawlessness there trancends what can be handled by simply arming everyone.

Whats your point? Were you for or against the ban?

Clearly a so called ban would not have done anything to stop that from happening.

I don't care what sidearm you're carrying, you and a dozen like you are not going to go against 12 bad guys armed with assault rifles and lots of magazines each.

I certainly wouldnt want to try to fight off multiple rifle equipped attackers with only a pistol. Thats never a good thing to try. However if the choice is dying without putting up any resistance and dying while trying to resist with a pistol I would definately choose the latter.

I would agree, however people have the right to try to defend themselves.
