Other countries similar to our who have strict gun laws have far fewer gun deaths each year. So obviously, not even the criminals have guns.

I'm not saying we should ban them...But, we should make guns very difficult to get, and the reprecussions of a kid finding it and blowing himself or a friend away stringent on the owner.

Btw, I am still waiting for someone to define what is, and what is not a gun.

Kids getting guns tend to get them because parents (yes, those nice people who refuse to take responsibility) tend to leave them in unsafe conditions. NEVER keep the gun and the ammo in the same place. If the gun is for self protection, lock it up during the day. Guns are like knives, care must be taken in thier use, storage, and proper use.

Think outside of the box! Removing guns can be as effective as prohibition. If people keep telling the government we, as a people, cannot behave like responsible adults and need to be controlled they will be happy to make more laws for you/us to live in.

In re to the San Diego incident....I find it hard to believe the child went and purchased the weapon at a Walmart, police station, or gun store.

Please be careful what you ask for when you want to ban guns....you may not have anyone willing to pick up a weapon and fight for your country while you run to Canada.

In regards to San Diego - the father is as much to blame as the son. The gun should have been locked up in a safe. If it was, the son should not have known the combination.

Improper storage and respect is to blame in this situation, not the gun.

But the gun lobby doesn't like gun locks, or gun storage. They have to be able to get that gun quick. This is a tough issue, and gun deaths are one of the highest causes of death for people under <20....I don't have the answer, and I am not saying guns are inherently bad, but this issue is troubling to me.....
