- 1 Canadian soldier has died from gunshot wounds.
- 1 gunman is dead.
- Police says no one is in custody and that the situation is "fluid" (whatever that means).
- Prime Minister Stephen Harper will address the nation later today.

I think it starts to cross the line when you are A) doing it at a government or highly public location and B) shooting at random people. They don't seem to be targeting a specific person, so it starts to carry the terrorist act label.

Canada has a fairly powerful gun lobby as well, FWIW. There are a lot of imported assault rifles (Sig, H&K, FN, Beretta) that you can purchase in Canada that are illegal in the US.

You're forgetting the 5 round capacity limit on anything worth a damn. Any modern center fire semi-auto that you import in canada must be neutered to comply with the capacity limit. Not a very powerful gun lobby when you think about it.

I did not know that.

Powerful gun lobby not so much, but there are some military style rifles that you can buy here.

That being said many are only legal to take to the range, and pretty much everything scary looking was prohibited in the 80's and 90's, but the list has never been updated.
