1.). Confiscation of all magazines that hold >10 rounds
2.). No loaning of firearms
3.). All semiautomatic rifles with removable magazines are banned from sale
4.). All assault rifles purchased prior to the ban must be registered
5.). Ammunition now requires a background check to purchase

I think that's it. Wow, actually impressive how far they went.

I guess urban liberals can stop being afraid of being shot by scary black men in their own cities now that they have their long sought after restrictions.

My S&W stock is going to go up, the ban takes effect Jan 2017, you can grandfather your assault rifle, sales are going to skyrocket to beat the ban.

My understanding is that the "scary cosmetic feature test" is still in play. All the bill did was make bullet button count as detachable magazines.

So you could still get something like this, with "not a pistol grip":

None of these laws would have done jack shit to stop any mass shooting. As usual, great work libruls

Which conveniently is after the likely injunction by a federal court before SCOTUS strikes it down with extreme prejudice. Either way it's going to sell a lot of guns.

Another idiotic move that will accomplish nothing. So now we have states such as New York, New Jersey, California, where getting decent weapons is getting very hard for law abiding people. In Hawaii, they need to be registered there as well (so I would not move there) Also places like Chicago where it is hard to buy a gun and is illegal to carry. Washington DC is also illegal to carry as is New Jersey and New York City

^ Should've required them all to be bright pink to boot.

Oh yeah, another consequence of this is that there will be another open Salt Weapon registration period next year. Once you have a registered Salt Weapon you can have a detachable magazine and all of the evil features you want.

Basically, all the bill did was:
a. Allow hundreds of thousands or millions of bullet-buttoned Salt Weapons to be registered and converted to standard detachable magazine configuration
b. Force that all new sales of Salt Weapons have funky looking but functional grips with detachable magazines. Since they have a non-neutered mag release they are actually more deadly than a bullet buttoned rifle.

So all the libruls have done is increase the lethality of rifles available in California.

For the love of fuck, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE quit using the term "assault rifle" incorrectly. It makes my atheist form of baby jesus cry and kills 10 kittens every time it's used incorrectly.

edit: I'm not even a gun nut. I don't have a CHL or carry and this still annoys the shit out of me.

I put all the others in quotes, and California defined them, they are legally assault rifles in California. I'm hobbiest, it bothers me too, but there's a legal definition in CA.

Take your semantics argument to Gov Brown.

I am an independent, but I probably am closer to Democrat than Republican. If there is one thing I cannot stand by the left, though, it is the assault on the 2nd amendment. These types of regulations are do-nothing feel-good nonsense and nothing more. This will do nothing tangible in regards to firearms violence rates, but it does harm rights of gun hobbyists and many gun owners. These types of laws are built on fear and propaganda, the same thing the left points their finger at the right on (and often correctly I might add) all the time. Islamophobia and gun-phobia have a lot in common.

It's all about feelings. It makes us feel like something is being done, it makes us feel safer because guns are being limited. Most people are willing to give up a lot to have that feeling, without ever actually realizing that the new laws will do absolutely nothing to stop a killer.

So sad. Guns can be masterpieces of art and craftsmanship. It repulsed me that I can't but what others in more gun friendly states can, all because I live in a state full of otherwise absorbed chickens who, out of fear of shitting their pants over some loud bang, fuck me and my wish to collect those magnificent masterpieces. All my life, I haven't been able to smoke pot either, because a bunch of old ninnies might shit their pants too fearing I might tank up and go boo, catching them off guard in their alcohol stupor.

Fuck you, you old conservative assholes who have become today's cretinous liberals.

Your fear is everyone's prison.

My fear of your fear makes me want to have nuclear weapons, you dumb bastards.

Lucky for you what I want isn't important to me. It's easy for me to be your slave. I am a nobody and my desires end when I do, tears in the rain. But I could be sick like you are and pushed my desires on you, loading up illegally with every manor imaginable to protect mysel from your aggressive paranoid fear maybe a 50 caliber with a mile long belt pointed at my front door. All I can do is hope that every person who votes to outlaw the magnificent things I wish to own gets hit by a car.

You will understand this when you understand that people hate themselves, that their fear of others is a projection of the hostility they feel for themselves out there. This is a state of madness, and our acting out of these feelings makes out there also crazy. We are our world and it will be insane as long as we are. It's a really bad situation because what we fear more than all else is to feel our self hate directly, to actually feel what we feel.

Now, don't argue. Just try to see what this, if true, can explain, if it, were it true, dovetail with reality.

The unfortunate thing is that objects have taken on more material importance than people and their actions. None of these laws will cause changes in criminal behavior and a true saying is that the law isn't for those who would abide by it, but those who won't. That we're so violent a society is the real issue. We kill without remorse, or too many of us. Until hearts and minds change there will be no progress. That we won't address this says things about us, and it's not good.

detachable magazines I thought were still legal (at ten rounds max) so long as you need a tool to remove them, the bullet button was explicitly banned as the tool was a bullet and something the liberals frowned on as it circumvented their policy.

Also curious as to how they will confiscate the magazines.....I believe they are making ownership of anything over ten rounds a felony but I still think it will be difficult to get folks to turn them in given how much people paid for them.

It will also be interesting to see how they monitor ammo purchases, and what is considered "too much" and raises a flag...what is the limit? a hundred rounds, five hundred?, a thousand? here I have seen folks walk out with 5 thousand rounds easy...guessing out there it would get them on a watch list at least. After reading the article that was linked above, if someone has a firearms license which they need in california would they also need to get an ammunition license and if so that is just stupid. And if its the latter where they take down your license information and then send it to be checked after the sale what is the point of that other than to just compile a database that catalogs ammo purchase habits.

They have had confiscation for a while. They do it under a nuisance law, even if you had them legally from before the ban. It was not a crime to possess them unless you were in SF or LA. Now it is a felony to possess them anywhere in the state. I have quite a few and I'll pin the ones for my range guns. My home defense guns will remain standard capacity.

Honestly I find it strange nobody hasn't tried for mandatory insurance. Like 5 million liability insurance per rifle 10 million per pistol.

Methinks the Insurance Industry have been torturing themselves in their attempts at trying establish this very lucrative market segment without experiencing the hellish backfire that would result from enacting such a law.

Maybe they can worm their way into it by initially folding this feature in with homeowner's polices at attractive rates and then having their lackeys in Congress expand this huge profit making venture via having the NRA initiate their own insurance plan. Sort'a like "A plan for gun owners run by gun owners".

Also places like Chicago where it is hard to buy a gun and is illegal to carry.

Concealed carry, while heavily restricted as to where concealed carry is illegal, is legal in the city. Chicago is required to accept IL concealed carry permits.

When is the revolution starting? From the bold talk of some in this forum previously the armed uprising should be starting any minute right?

They should pass laws that require mandatory screening and treatment for mental illness. That would do a lot more than anything else.

Or they can just pray the evil away. Whatever.
