AMD announced a press conference and live webcast during Computex 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan. The event will begin on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM CST / 10:00 PM EDT. The event will feature launch of 7th Generation AMD A-Series Processors, Polaris updates and more.

The event is slated to feature presentations from AMD executives including AMD President and CEO Lisa Su; Senior Vice President and General Manager, Computing and Graphics Business Group, Jim Anderson; and Senior Vice President and Chief Architect, Radeon Technologies Group, Raja Koduri.

A real-time video webcast of the event will be accessible on AMD's Computex page (www.amd.com/computex) and on AMD's Investor Relations home page (ir.amd.com). A replay of the webcast can be accessed a few hours after the conclusion of the live event on both pages and will be available there for one year after the event.

There we go. Maybe now people can take it easy on the speculation and wait for official info/releases.

Not even a formal (paper) launch? That would be very disappointing.

Dang why not day before I'm off Tuesday and Wednesday I got plans to hit the bar with friends.

Welps, guess I'll have something to read while I sober up haha.

Polaris updates? Eh, that's not what I want to hear.
It's either a surprise, or they are planning on the E3 launch. We'll have to wait and find out.

It's a common practice to downplay it before the event. Don't think Nvidia said the 1080 launch event was a launch either.

Looks like DigiTimes nailed this well in advance:

Nvidia initially plans to reveal GPUs including GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 at Computex 2016 and has already begun to clear inventory of its existing GPUs to prepare for the next-generation products.

The sources pointed out that the graphics card market continues to see weak demand in the first half and most players' shipments in the second quarter are expected to drop around 10% from the first.

Meanwhile, AMD has prepared Polaris-based GPUs to compete against Nvidia's Pascal; however, the GPUs will be released later than Nvidia's Pascal and therefore the graphics card players' third-quarter performance will mainly be driven by demand for their Nvidia products.

I'm sure we'll see at least some of the polaris lineup outed with specs. If not, it would be a bad move on AMD's part.

Not sure if either of AMD's feet have anymore room for bullet holes at this point. Time to start up the marketing machine.

I agree.

If XFX is making a $400 Polaris card, I think it's safe to say it will compete with a 1070.

These people surely aren't quite that daft

Isn't there a good chance that its some sort of extra special after market thing?

That would be very consistent with the expected base performances of the relevant chips - that sort of deluxe treatment could easily boost ~390x equivalent to ~1070 equivalent performance. It'd match the pricing too.

One thing for sure is that the partners (esp the AMD only ones!) will be very, very keen to push these things as far as they can sanely go.

New FreeSync monitors continue to show up.

LG now has a sub-$500 USD 4K IPS 27" FreeSync monitor. With GSync, you are lucky to get 1440p GSync TN at this price.

There are also $250 USD 24" 1080p 144Hz FreeSync monitors with Async range from 30-144Hz

Soon it's going to be hard to compare NV vs. AMD without discussing this point head on. Sooner or later the masses will start moving away from 1080p 60Hz and the G-Sync monitor premium will hit them straight in the face.

Derailing the thread is not allowed.

Yep, lacking support for Freesync is a major downside for Nvidia. They could have easily included it but want to lock you into their gsync adopter tax.

If GSync was superior they would offer both. Premium vs Budget. Since they know that gsync isn't worth the extra, they won't support Adaptive-Sync until they stop making money off of gsync or start losing too much market share.

Umm how is it going to hit any nvidia owner in the face? They in market for new monitor, obvious choice gsync. No matter what you think, 120Hz+ is not going to be mainstream for desktop GPU for "masses".
