Here is a guide from EVGA hot to further reduce power draw, increase performance/watt and overclocking:

DISABLE THE FANS

Lol, that's grasping at straws for "features" lol.

Increase OC --> Increase heat output --> Must increase fan speed --> power savings gone

I really hope no one falls for that.

whether this game has vulkan or not is gonna determine which OS I use. If dx12 is the only low level api, I'm gonna go with windows 10. If vulkan is there, I might stick with win 7.

I was just playing for an hour also on the small Multiplayer map at 1200p also.

7970Ghz Stock clocks.

Ultra
60 fps avg/high
50 fps low

Vsync is on with it off the high's hit 90 fps.

7970 is for sure going to become my favourite GPU of all time. Incredible staying power. While 9700Pro and 5870 were great for what they accomplished, neither had the staying power of the 7970. I mean honestly the 7970 @ 1150-1200mhz can still play a lot of modern games well at 1080P. I'd say it has even beaten the 8800GTX/Ultra for how long it has remained relevant for gaming at good settings. 4 years from its launch date, the 8800GTX while could still play some games, you had to drastically lower settings. In fairness, back then gaming graphics improved at a much more rapid pace.

-------------------

Computerbase has their numbers too.

Multi player (Hoth, 40 players):

1080P
Fury X= 116
980Ti = 110
7950 = 51
760 = 50

1440P
Fury X ~ 89 fps (rounded)
980Ti = 76 fps

4K
Fury X = 48 fps
980Ti = 40 fps

Big drop in performance on a Fury X with a slower CPU:

4770K @ 2.5Ghz ~ 95 fps
4770K @ 3.5Ghz HT ~ 107 fps
4770K @ 4.4Ghz ~ 127 fps
vs.
4770K @ 3.5Ghz HT with a 980TI ~ 115 fps

whether this game has vulkan or not is gonna determine which OS I use. If dx12 is the only low level api, I'm gonna go with windows 10. If vulkan is there, I might stick with win 7.

You should jump to Windows 10 while it's still free as later it'll cost you $100. DX12 games will benefit from lower API overhead soon or later and W10 will get all the latest security updates and fixes and support. In fact, Windows 7 is a dog as far as performance goes. I like Windows 8.1 way more than Windows 7 in terms of speed/responsiveness. Windows 7 is really overrated. Other than the Start menu, it's worse than Windows 8.1.

That's a crazy strong result for the DX11 path. I didn't expect that at all TBH. Especially in multiplayer since AMD suffered poor performance on DX11 in BF4 MP. Looks like DICE has went full GCN optimized mode for Frostbite 3.

Makes sense since they need it to extract performance from the flaccid Xbone/PS4 hardware.

Wait.. it crashed on 2 core CPUs?! lol

Death of the i3s!

Im not a big Star Wars fan but the game is pretty fun. Good movement and shooting mechanics that we would expect from DICE. Looks better than BF4 but not a next gen leap or anything imo.

Runs very smooth at all max everything on both of my systems.

Ya, but so many people online are saying the graphics are horrible. I'd say the game engine is really well optimized. If this was a Ubisoft title, FPS would be 2-3X lower.

It's pretty hard in some places to make it look spectacular since creating lifelike snow would destroy any GPU out today. You'd essentially need to make individual particles with shadows, physics and reflection. That's not realistic given today's GPU horsepower.

This is one of those games that does benefit a lot from 4K sharpness.

I can't think of a better looking Star Wars themed game.

If it's not going to be the next Crysis 3 or Metro LL, I'd rather the game run well on a 290/970/390 level card, vs. an unoptimized turd like AC Unity or Watch Dogs or ARK Survival.

Really Russian? Multiple 4K images?

Sorry, forgot some members are browsing with smartphones and this may eat into your data. But with smartphones moving to 4K, soon some people will be able to put it to the test if they can resolve 4K vs. 1080P/1440P on a smartphone. Wow, Sony Z5 phones cost a ton of $ in Australia.

System

Core i7 3770K @ 4.44GHz
2x 4GB Kingston LoVo 1600MHz 9-9-9 1.35V
HD7950 @ 1GHz, 1500MHz memory

CPU Affinity at 2C 4T (cpu 0-1-2-3)

Good performance on that 7950. Can she go to 1.15-1.2Ghz with voltage? What specific 7950 SKU do you have?

Nice to see decent scaling on a 4C. Can't wait until Intel moves 6-cores into the $300 range on the mainstream and Zen gives us 8-cores so that 4 core becomes bare minimum and dual cores are relegated to office PCs.

Its an Asus HD7950-DC2t-3GB5-V2

It can do 1050MHz on default and up to 1200MHz but i dont remember at what Voltage. I leave it at 1GHz and 1500MHz for the memory for 24/7, no need to push it more and its quiet and cool at this settings.

Why don't you download it and try it yourself? I have and it's fun! Runs great on both of my rigs.

My own conclusion was its meh too. Seems to be the overall tendency.

But I am not a big FPS player tho.

ShintaiDK, just got done playing some multiplayer. I love COD so for me it's fun. The graphics are great for a Beta product and it runs well on both of my rigs, as I expect it should.

I'll try FRAPs later to see if it will measure fps and then report.

It runs fine, that's not the issue. For me its a gameplay issue.

I love how people keep saying that it's a beta as if it were actually true. It's a limited early demo of a nearly finished product. Not much will change.
