He's Persian for sure, great chance of being Jewish. They're (in)famous for hanging out in front of Powell as well.

Mostafa =/= Jewish

lol wtf does this have to do with patriot act? it seems like the daily bruin article is a bit biased.

Surprising given that our University system is a bastion of conservative ideology.

I don't see what being Perisian or Jewish or whatever really has to do with this.

The guy is a student. Forgot his ID. OK.

The rent a cops ask him for it, he doesn't have it. Maybe they should just look in their database or something.

Tazering him is ludicrous.

I don't see what the problem is except for there being too many douchebag college students.

Judging by your avatar and attitude I'm going to say you are or know someone in law enforcement. Anyways, I'm sure you don't immediately say "oh yes I'll get up" after you get hit with a taser the first time. I'm sure it's more like "wtf just happened?"

Oh well, whatever makes racists feel safer.

That comment fosters racism. You don't know if they wouldn't have tasered him. It looked to me like there were at least two "minority" cops in that video. If the cops were racist they sure would have tasered a white kid.

It doesn't matter if the cops are 'minorities'... black cops have been known to brutalize black people too.

I dont think the main argument here is whether or not the student should of been tased. I think the main point is whether or not he should of gotten tased 5 times. The argument is whether or not the multiple tasings was excessive.

Is it normal for 3 cops to tase someone 5 times to get a situation under control?

But according to a study published in the Lancet Medical Journal in 2001, a charge of three to five seconds can result in immobilization for five to 15 minutes

He didn't have a problem screaming like a baby which gives me the impression that he wasn't immobilized.

i'm shocked at some of these responses. the "price" of his resistance is being handcuffed and jailed, not being tazered repeatedly.

how the fvck can you honestly believe that the police have some uninhibited right to tell you what to do and then to use VIOLENCE when you don't comply.

The kid was out of control. It was legitimate use of the tazer.

You're out of control dude. And I'm ashamed ur from the northeast.

This is disgusting.

Bystanders were asking the police to stop and they were threatened by taser.

Why don't you cry about it, little baby?

Why don't you shut up and stop kissing their *ss. Those cops are way over the line no matter how you slice it. Just because they are cops does not mean they always right. The whole video is about 7 min. long and during that time he got tazer multiple times. The guy probably couldn't even think straight because of the pains.

BTW, when you start to attack the preson and not their points, it shows how weak your arguments are.

LOL, you didn't even read both articles and you're jumping to insane conclusions.

They did a "drive stun" which isn't a "tasering". They zapped him for a split second with it.........that's a LOT different than shooting somebody with a taser.

Was a taser enough? Everyone could potentially be a terrorist or have guns, I think cops should be allowed to shoot anyone who doesnt follow their orders immediately.

I didn't understand that part of the Police Statement. Is this something thats normally taught in training. To "drive stun" someone? Seems kind of odd. Is there that much difference between getting zapped for 1 second or 5 seconds? Its like me shooting you with 1 rubber baton round or 5 rubber baton rounds.

You would actually be suprised at how fast one recovers. There really is little to no residual effect. You will see people resisting hard, then they are tased, then they go right back to fighting. The barbs stay attached until medically removed so it is quite easy (and harmless) to keep tasing someone until they comply. Most people figure it out after the 3rd or 4th hit.

No, they should have wrestled with him for a few minutes and hoped he didn't have a sharp object to stab one of them with or that some of the students didn't jump in.

I, personally, don't want our police officers to have to become adept at wrestling just because the idea of a tasering is distateful to you. The fact is, the kid was breaking the law at that point. He could have resolved the entire situation peacefully by halting when the officer instructed him to and going through a few questions and being on his way, but, apparently, peace isn't what he was really after now was it?

He was after his pride. All men have pride.

Don't ask a student what hes doing in his own prestigious university. Random ID checks?

Sounds like 1984 to me.

It's pretty freaking ridiculous to ask someone to "GET UP" after 2 rounds of tasering, let alone 5. And in the end, they just carried him out anyway. WTH?

I'm glad you were there and know what the fvck went on. I hope some tazers you in the grocery store one day. Maybe, then, you'll see it isn't necessary to tazer every random person in public.
