No, they should have wrestled with him for a few minutes and hoped he didn't have a sharp object to stab one of them with or that some of the students didn't jump in.

I, personally, don't want our police officers to have to become adept at wrestling just because the idea of a tasering is distateful to you. The fact is, the kid was breaking the law at that point. He could have resolved the entire situation peacefully by halting when the officer instructed him to and going through a few questions and being on his way, but, apparently, peace isn't what he was really after now was it?

I'm glad you were there and know what the fvck went on. I hope some tazers you in the grocery store one day. Maybe, then, you'll see it isn't necessary to tazer every random person in public.

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa...

Sounds like 1984 to me.

He already failed to present ID and was, therefore, there without authorization. They were trying to find out why this guy with no ID was on campus using the Internet at an anonymous terminal.

Pride. Guess what, pride has to take a back seat to obeying the law. Besides, I'm sure whatever pride he salvaged was lost when the taser caused him to lose control of his bowels.

From your article genious:

"It was the third incident in a month in which police behavior in the city was criticized after amateur video surfaced. The other two involved the Los Angeles Police Department."

3 in a month?

Just from Amateur video? Man, what the hell is your point?

Taser is an altertnative to deadly force, not an alternative to routine police work. If these cops can't even handle an incapacitated person sitting on the ground without resorting to potentially deadly tools like the taser, then they should be fired, and find another line of work that they are better at.

Always best to stay away from Police and courts they care little about anything but their power.

My 10 year old had a Policeman come into her classroom for something called D.A.R.E. All I know is the Policeman convinced my daughter that I am a criminal. I as my forefathers for several hundred years have grown cigar tobacco.

I will present a proposal for a 30% spending cut in our Police Department at the next budget meeting.

I was in court last year for stopping 6 inches over the stop line. Yes a photo ticket. I went in to fight it and was told by the judges assistant to forget it and pay. I had not been speeding but my sight was blocked by larger vehicle. I took out a fifty and tried to hand it to her. Checks or money orders only. I do not carry checks. I was told go buy a money order. To be polite I asked if 45 dollars would be acceptable for consideration of cost and time. They refused this offer as well as legal tender.

When I sold my house the bank found a judgment on my record. Yes the ticket they refused payment for. I still have an 800 plus credit rating and had no problem obtaining a 300 k mortgage.

I have tried to explain to my ten year old that police are above the law. She is smart enough to see their lack of respect for the law when her father is routinely passed by police while he is doing the speed limit. I have a habit of putting down my window at the next light and shaking a finger at the Policeperson and saying "my mother always told me that I would catch up with people like you at the next light.".

it's hard to tell from the video, but it does seem like the initial zap was warranted. Even if the police officer grabs you, it's generally not a good idea to fight back.. and you're in a public library.. plenty of witnesses for later.

after that tho.. I don't know why they kept zapping him as he was just lying there. just drag his ass over concrete, he'll get up right quick.

At around 11:30 p.m., CSOs asked a male student using a computer in the back of the room to leave when he was unable to produce a BruinCard during a random check. The student did not exit the building immediately.

WTF? Random student ID checks for people using the lab? We don't have that here at UCSD. Anyone can come in and use the computers as long as they have a username/password.

What you said was weak, because the OJ trial has nothing to do with what Phokus said.

Tazering him is ludicrous.

LOL, you didn't even read both articles and you're jumping to insane conclusions.

They did a "drive stun" which isn't a "tasering". They zapped him for a split second with it.........that's a LOT different than shooting somebody with a taser.

LOL.... YOU didn't even read the articles or see the video.

A six-minute video showed Tabatabainejad audibly screaming in pain as he was stunned several times with a Taser, each time for three to five seconds. He was told repeatedly to stand up and stop fighting, and was told that if he did not do so he would "get Tased again."

I got better girls to do and things to take care of.

I just hope that when something like this happens to one of you in the future you realize how its important for good people to care when something bad happens to a fellow citizen.

You want your Wii and a fake anime babe sent via Fedex or UPS?

It's not that....it's that you misspelled that word........during an argument involving colleges.

I just gave you the correlation. The OJ trial had nothing to do with race, just like this incident. But some retard always wants to throw out the race card. Now if you're too dumb to understand that, just move along.

So this retard is always Johnny Cochran?

I mean the fact that the guy is IRANIAN during a time which we are war with a Middle Eastern country and contemplating war with another has absolutely nothing to do with the way this person was treated right?

and what does it have to dowth THIS case?

the guy was asked to leave. he refused. he then tried to get the others to join him in resisting the police. so they rightfully tasered him over it. (if that is how it wen tdown.)

now what does the other 2 have to do with th is? NOTHING. (even less since they were the LAPD).
