Yeah right
What if you are an unsociable type where nobody visits you? You could be hanging there for days if not weeks rotting away. I guess that's true for any way of doing yourself in like offing yourself with drugs or by blowing your brains out, but at least who ever finds your dead and rotting corpse won't be confronted by it hanging from the rafters.

My friend's wife hung herself too. I don't understand it, she was beautiful, bright and had plenty of friends and a great family. He was devastated.

It doesen't seem like you hear about many women who commit suicide by hanging themselves. I may be wrong though.

And yeah, death by hanging wouldn't be a very nice way to go. Remember that child molester dude that was hung here in Oregon(Or was it Washington..)? It took him 2 minutes to be pronounced dead. :Q

Speaking of survivors...a friend of the family attempted suicide a few years ago by sticking a gun under his chin. These days he walks around with one eye and talks with a lisp.

Are you sure that he committed suicide? Did he leave a note or something. There is a practice that men engage in where they often "accidentally" hang themselves and it is quite common. I won't get into it here because of the varying ages of people that read this site. But it could have just been an accident.

In any respect, an unexpected death is always sad for the people involved.
