Calm down!, your actions right now are making the TEAM look bad, and you are not acomplishing what you want. your problem is not with the TEAM. if you want to leave I am sad to see you go, but please do not make the DC forum look like a lock fest. its not mature, or apropriate.

you dont know how I feel about this right now, but I can tell you I am not proud of some of your actions.

Take a long deep breath.

Other than some complaints about pop-up ads, I still don't know what the heck is going on! :Q :|

But as far as I know, I'm not planning on going anywhere.

I honestly want to know why this thread stays unlocked, yet my calm attempts early today to ask what the mod's were doing were locked and then deleted?

This is a forums issue, yet it stays unlocked. Please no smart ass remark, just facts.

Could be the mod's have gone to bed. It's getting pretty late.

People have complained/quit over threads getting locked. Now you have a problem with mods "NOT" locking a thread? They can't win... Give'em a break.

I know some of us are upset, but let's begin looking for ways to de-escalate this monster. It's not doing any good to anyone at this point.

I did NOT need this kind of bull here tonight. I came here hoping to have a good time. Maybe post in the dasm nef thread, give Engineer some heck , congratulate some milestone posts, support my teammates. Maybe help take my mind off today's earlier events.

I was upset by the mods actions earler, but I am more upset and ashamed at some of the locked threads by members here tonight. They will only serve to hurt Team Anandtech, the DC forum, and Anand himself.

In the scheme of things, this stuff is not that important. What's happening to David McOwen is important. What happened to my close friend whose wife was taken from him after 22 years by a blood clot after routine surgery is important. I sit there and see two teenagers suddenly without a mom, that's important. I sit there and see a large church overflowing with people, outpouring their love and support for a family in severe pain, that's important.

The "pain" of a locked thread is nothing compared to that. So please stop with the immature threads just looking to be locked. We all look bad, and it serves no good purpose. There are better ways to handle the situation.

Let's rise above it. Please.

You just cannot beat RaySun2Be. Here's a guy who's lost a dear friend, and finishes his day by staying up past midnight to try to iron out a Team problem. Dennis, go to bed! And peaceful dreams to you, sir. By the way, a little bitty care package is on the way to the Harrison residence.

RaySun2Be, I agree wholeheartedly.
We all need to remember there is no "adults only" sign or requirement for becoming an Anandtech or a TA member.
To see someone act immature does not surprise me, maybe it's just all these 6 kids I have here myself (OMG my oldest is turning 13 this Saturday!!! I am not ready for this).

It is nice to see the majority here wanting to proceed with reason and thoughtfulness. That is reason enough to be proud.

Dennis,

My sympathies and prayers for you and that family. It is a terrible thing to lose a parent when young.

well from a outsider in the netherlands i dont know what the problem is,
i only see stupid popup's from the BAD company SEAGATE (slow hardisks etc).
I only know that i hate popup's.
And i also hate moderators who lock's a topic just because there was something in there they dont like.
i think its a bad thing if moderators locked a topic.
just my 2 cents

WARNING: long post, but i feel some very important things, i would appreciate if you would read, thanks

i have just woken up, and thought, as i do every morning, "i'll check AT forums now", and what do i find??

lots of locked threads, posts saying that our TeAm members have left and either gone alone or joined the opposition, and general bad TeAmman ship (ok, that may be a bit harsh, but i'm actually quite hurt).

i can only remember about 3 locked threads since i came to the DC forum earlier in the year, and i wake up this morning to find about 10 :| i, like most others here, like DC because we are "trusted" with less moderation. many people here like the occasional "Nef" or "dasm" or "mn" thread, because there aren't ones appearing every 5 minutes.

to give an analagy(sp?):

it doesn't matter if a child is the best behaved child when he is with his friends, and normally around his parents, but if he plays up once in front of his parents, and they say stop, but he doesn't while he is still being watched, then the parents are going to think that he is a bad child, and won't let him go out an play.

that is how it has been here, we get the mod's attention with one locked thread (on whatever, i don't CARE what the subject was, that's not for me to decide if it was appropiate), then we continue to act up and post lots of threads on how the mods are, quite frankly, DOING THEIR JOB, then that is just not right.

i have to agree, if I wasn't asleep and i saw this, i'd probably be the first to post and say how i didn't like it, but i had the advantage that i was asleep, and now i can look at the whole thing and say either "yeah, the mods were right", or "the mods were a off in locking all those threads". i'm not gonna say which i think it is, that's your own personal opinion, not to be shared.

i think that the MOST IMPORTANT thing about all this is that we've lost many, many members over this debate. this makes the TeAm look bad and small compared to the others in the world. i like it here because everyone is so friendl and helpful if anybody has a problem, even those from other teams sometimes!!

Dennis, i also have to agree with you here, although locked posts and stricter modding here could seem important within our family here, we all have to step back and realise that this is all just a virtual thing, and that it is OK to just say nothing for a while, if needbe make an excuse like your computer died, don't give in to them. anyway, as i was saying, there ARE more improtant things other than how it's been moderated here, like those people who have lost loved ones, be that due to illness, accidents, or the tragic events of 11/9 (sorry, i'm British, and you write the dates's wrong ), THAT is the improtant stuff in life!

ok, that's my rant over, and thanks for taking your time to read this far

and this is all i'm saying on the subject!

Anyone just waking up needs to bear in mind that some of the original posts have been deleted.
It's now impossible to see what got peoples panties in a bunch.

Time to circle the wagons and gather together as a team, lets not let this thing cost us any more than it already has.

As always Dennis(raysun2be) hits it right on the head... and as usual I'm extremely proud to be able to say that I'm on the same TeAm as him.

Sorry, to hear about you, your family and your friends loss Dennis I know the pain of losing ones mom as a teenager (mine died when I was 16). It's good to hear that they have people who care around them tho', that's the only thing that helps even a little.

With love,

Two-Face
