For some reason, my harddrive's head couldn't move over a certain point, I helped it move over that point and it worked. After you open the drive, it'll be trash in like a week, though.

uhhhhhhhh....does that void the warrenty? I want the data back but I also want my warrenty to remain in tact.

That will void the warranty...

slightly.

Are you not understanding us or something? If the computer won't boot with the drive hooked up, something is wrong.

1) Burn a win98 boot cdrom(or that NTFS software if it's formatted ntfs)

2) Hook the drive up, make sure it's detected

3) Boot up using said win98 boot cdrom(or ntfs software)

4) switch to the drive, does it work? type dir, can you see your files? If no, go to 6

5) Start copying

6) Try any of the other programs said in this thread, if no, go 7)

7) RMA drive and consider it a loss, OR pay an insane ammount of money for data recovery.

Shipping it to a hard drive recovery business will void the warranty too (they will rip it open in a clean room). You have a choice, you can try to get the necessary files off the HD and void the warranty, or you can have a broken drive with a warranty. Which is more valuable to you?

actually this company does not void the warrenty as they have a contract with many major hd companies.

Thanks, I will try to get someone to burn me one soon.

EDIT: sh!t, it only copies data from a ntsf drive to a fatXX drive. I will have to find a fat drive with WinXX installed on it
