Guys I want to buy an HDTV!....what do you all think is the best 50'??

No, the xbox does not auto upconvert to 1080i unless your tv specifically supports that.

Yes the crop of HD xbox games for some reason is using 4:3 instead of 16:9 but I know Dragon's Lair 3D supports widescreen in all formats of HD including 720p and 1080i, as well as Street Hoops. I guess just Soul Caliber 2 chose 4:3 for some stupid reason. It's possible, and the newest linux about to be released for the xbox will support all HD resolutions as well.

Check out this CRT. 40" sony XBR

Compare this one to that Toshiba, and you will be blown away. Sony also makes a 32" and 36" version. This is the best CRT television ever made, plus it is HUGE at 40".

lol that thing is a 4:3 ratio. No doubt 4:3 will be phased out eventually.

It's a little out of his price range compared to the toshiba he posted earlier

All great tubes have to be nearly square. It still shows 16X9 1080i just fine, with black bars. As a tube gets further from square, distortion becomes a bigger and bigger problem.

Thanks but I think I'll still go with the TOSHIBA or even step up to their 34" model....I dont think your gonna see a difference between the picture quality

The 30 inch wide screen toshiba is very nice. Another bonus is that it will upconvert all signals. Get it with a nice reciever/speaker combo and you'll be very happy =)

I would have them install new cable, they did for me (comcast)

Also don't skimp on cheap cables, I noticed a big difference when I went from composite to quality s-video/component.

I just went thru this recently, and ended up with a 57" Sony with hdtv built in. Reason being, I was eyeballing the DLP's, and was almost ready to buy 1, but walked into CircuitCity, and happened upon 1 playing a soccer game, to cut to the chase, the thing was Ghosting, just like a slow lcd will. So, I mosey'd over to the regular wide screens, and plunked my $ down there. This was about 2 months ago, and I have no regrets. Just my input.
