I was a pc salesman there for a lil while. It was my first retail sales job, but they hired me for the holiday rush. I absolutely loved the job and really enjoyed helping customers no matter how small their problem was. Anyways, being i had no past sales experience, i was having a rough start selling thoose must-sell with every piece of crap Service Plans. The employees layed me a few tips, and things started to get better. I got a service plan sale on a cheap monitor(which is pretty rare to them). However, as things were starting to pick up for me, they started cutting my hours!(and they're only paying me a frickin $7.50/hr, no commision/spiffs either!) however, the hour cut was alrite, since i would be starting winter semester of college in a few weeks. To cut a long story short, the last day i was there, i went into work as usuall, started helping customers, and my super. said the manager wanted to have a meeting with me. Turns out, in the meeting, they said one employee overheard me talkin a bunch of crap about the service plans to customers, and how its not worth it. I said thats a complete frickin lie, and why would i say such sh!t when im having a hard time already sellin them.

The manager of the dpt, had an idea that i would just work in accessories for now, and just absorb what goes on. So i did that, and this is fine for me! i like helpin customers find small accessories,etc. About 2 hrs later, my super. comes to me and says, hey go to the warehouse(recieving area) and ask for so and so. I went back there, real pissed, and fealt mistreated. I started helping unload crap off the truck(for a few hrs) then i start talking to the guys there, and it turns out, thats my new job!!(the guy was asking where to put me on the schedule) l(and theese guys work crazy hrs from like 5pm-8am) later that nite i left, came back a week later, didnt talk to anyone and picked up my check.

Summary: both supervisors hated me from the get-go made up lies to get me and trouble, and moved my job to the warehouse in-doc station.

You should have stayed in the warehouse for a couple weeks so you could steal stuff. Then you get even and leave.

Sounds like an attitude problem from your post, although I don't agree with BB's policies either. Maybe you didn't hear their questions/statements correctly?

well in the employee hand book, it doesnt say anything about meeting a certain quota or anything, and i have an excellent attitude, like i told the manager in the meeting. I just enjoy helping customers, in a fast paced environment.

You did the right thing. You felt mistreated, you quit.

Morally, most would probably say yes.

Legally/technically.. they can have you do just about whatever they want you to.

He could've told you to go scrub the bathroom with a toothbrush. If you didn't want to do it, you're free to quit.

Well, how do you define employee mistreatment? While having them make stuff up about you and not liking you sucks there really isn't anything you can do about it unless you can prove it.

lolz! Now learn your lesson and get a job as a life guard or something fun .

Or cut grass... or whatever. Why do kids feel obligated to work at these places for less pay?

Get a job at McDonalds, pays about the same, don't have to sell ESP's, get to basically mess up as much as you want and people won't make as much fun of you for working there as they would best buy.

and adults these days wonder why kids don't want jobs at mcdonalds, best buy, and *insert corperation here*

Terry Train from the KQRS morning show once said "its like kids think that the job isn't good enough for them"

the truth is they are too good for the jobs, they deal with 40 year old morons that never did anything with there life and go on power trips on teenagers to make themselves feel good

then there are the idiot customers, they all want everything for free, and they want it the second they get into the store, if they get any kind of different service the sales people are automaticaly incompitant greedy pricks

the sales people at the places like those listed above are people too.

Those warrentees are sh|t anyway. My friend used to have management at sears breathing down his neck to push those things harder all the time, even when he was good at selling them. There's a certain percentage of people that just aren't going to buy them, no matter how hard you push...my friend found that out the hard way when a lady just walked away from all the stuff she was going to buy when he pushed to hard.

His solution? Since he rang the stuff up he sold, he'd just ring all $20 items up as a service plan sale instead of the item. It totally fvcked up the inventory system, but it made his numbers look awesome and got management off his back. He was pretty crazy at that job though...

big deal, when i was working for Fry's as a cashier, they put me and another dude in the delivery team because they were short on people in that department. i worked from 7am - 2:30am one day. it was okay though, wasn't making comission at that given time, and the overtime and double overtime was sweet.

wow, sounds like you gave in without a fight. I would hae confronted the BB manager and then I would go see the district manager. Unless he is the CEO of the company everyone has a boss.

I would have worked in the warehouse as well, plenty of time to mis locate items that could later be found at your cousins house.
