Marriage sucks but divorce is worse.

After 3 marriages, don't you think that maybe, just maybe, you are part of the problem?

The first one cheated on me, the second was a money hungry, status seeking, suffocating bitch, and the third I'm still in.

When I got married, maybe 75% of the guys came over in the office and said "don't do it, you will regret it". The other 25% come over queitly and say, don't listen to them, marriage is the best thing in the world.

Funny how the 75% are the ones that find excuses to stick around work longer.

Sorry, but I am with the 25%, marriage is wonderful.

... for now

Sorry about whatever happened to you.

nothing... yet

I think it's safe to say that those who go through the misery of divorce likely said the same thing as you about marriage at one point.

I'm going to have to side with the OP here. The old adage is very true: Men marry a woman and hope she never changes. Women marry a man hoping she can change him.

Something about marriage changes women. I saw it with my ex-wife, seen it happen friends, happen to relatives. Of the 50% of marriages that don't end in divorce, how many are actually happily married and not just staying together for the kids? 10%? 20%?

I'll never get married again, I see no reason to. If two people are happy together, why the pressure to get married? If they truly love each other, they'll stay together and get along. Why does there need to be a binding social contract in place?

Then again, at this point in my life, I don't even understand the nature behind monogamy, so I'm a bit biased to begin with.

Yeah, it's all the woman's fault.

So the idea is suffering? Wow, sounds like a great deal.

I think you, and most others, are missing the point. Independent of who's fault it is, people do change. I don't know you can establish fault in such cases, and I don't think there's any point. The real point is that aberrant changes result in [post]marital conditions described by many in this thread, and I believe the primary argument is that these conditions are so adverse that it's not worth it.

Way to put words in my mouth, tard.
I read your whole post. The take-home was that you think women are inherently evil once placed in the confines of marriage.

I read it as inherently different...

I don't see where he said that. He merely acknowledged a change in the social condition and the resultant effects. Whether or not he blames the woman was left unstated.

Well, that's it right there. If you're gonna think of it as a "social contract" then it really is meaningless too, in my opinion. You compare it to a job, so to speak. If you don't like your job, you can get out of the contract and quit. People that look at marriage as an expectation or some sort of contract will not make it very far....or at least, happily. I think there's much more to marriage than what our society fosters it nowadays.

Which is why I admonished the OP for dragging it over here. The one in the other forum he's referring to is already like 18 pages of idiocy.

You picked them dumbfvck, so yeah, it's your fault.

I've been married for 10 years now, so I guess I'm "allowed" to talk to you.
We're doing just fine. Getting married was the best decision I ever made.

Does anyone have any info on how exactly the husband's money is distributed to the woman in the event of a divorce (specifically?) Say for Illinois...

Judging by your misogynistic tendencies, I'd wager you'd be better served with something in your mouth.

From one post you've determined I'm a misogynist? Give Miss Cleo a call, she could probably use another psychic.
