Guys wearing flip flops

I wear 'em and I love 'em during the spring/summer -- they're comfortable especially when it's hot and you don't want to wear sweaty shoes/socks.

I have lived in Orlando and been stationed in Malta and Hawaii and hit the Virgin Islands many times on port visits.

Flip-flops are stupid. They are only good for public showers. I think they are mandatory at most gyms if you use the showers.

Walking around, people should wear proper sandals or shoes.

Yes. The flipflop look screams "i'm in college playing beer pong and i'm so awesome" and this is why I frown on them. Sandals are the way to go.

Too many people in this thread are lumping sandals, flip flops and other footwear together. There's a substantial difference. A key difference is a good pair of sandals doesn't make a goddam racket wherever you walk. Flip flop means thong flimsy thing.

And those sporty athletic thing guys wear? Yeah. Those are slippers.

I wear a pair of birkenstock arizonas every day that it's above 40F.

I live in Phoenix. When it's hot I'll wear some flip flops. It keeps my feet from sweating like crazy if I have to be outside for a while.

Flip flops/sandals, even decent looking sandals are womens shoes, not for old, fat, disgusting looking males or males in general, that dont take care of their feet, and u know most men dont.

in the summer when its hot around here i wear running shoes or whatever breathes better than my normal skateboard shoes i wear for biking and usual skateboarding at the beaches :thumbsup:

Flip flops aren't appropriate footwear imo. They give no support, and they add an extra challenge to walking correctly. Sandals are fine, but I don't like flip flops on men or women.

Uhh... I never really gave that much thought into wearing flipflops. I usually wear them for convenience of not having to deal with socks and shoes and if I'm going somewhere for a short period of time. But generally:

Shorts and Flipflops = :thumbsup:

Pants and Flipflops = retarded

You need to stop worrying about me. Just because I post a message on the internet expressing my disdain for people who dress like slobs doesn't mean you have some keen perspective on my life. This place is one of the few places that I actually let my darker side emerge. The fact of the matter is I don't give a shit about what people wear or do -- I am too busy living my life to worry or care. This is an internet message board and this is a thread about the subject. Your interjections are no more valid than mine.

They actually do quite a bit to destroy your feet, legs and back. There's quite a few articles floating around about the perils of wearing flipflips too much. Taking a long walk in flip flops instead of proper footwear can wreak havoc on your body. We aren't meant to stride with our toes clenched.

That is true, if you do a search on google about why flip flops/sandals are bad, you will find a large amount of articles supporting that and they may hurt your back after a long day of walking in them, and cause foot problems in the arch and Plantar Fascia and Calcaneous bone.

I tried to wear them when I was younger on special occassions like going to the beach or a water park, i just couldnt get used to the way you had to walk in them and how they didnt provide support, and the toes were clenched quite a bit while stepping off the foot.
