I have lived in Orlando and been stationed in Malta and Hawaii and hit the Virgin Islands many times on port visits.

Flip-flops are stupid. They are only good for public showers. I think they are mandatory at most gyms if you use the showers.

Walking around, people should wear proper sandals or shoes.

ok... obviously we haven't been to the same subtropics

I can't stand wearing flip flops, I don't get how they are comfortable. They are a pain to walk in, and the thing between your toes is annoying. I don't have a problem with others wearing them though, I just don't get how they can stand them.

I wear them almost continuously from May to August. Texas heat is a killer.

So that's what people are thinking of? I guess I was just associating the word flip-flop with what are really "Slides," which I happen to love wearing.

You need to stop worrying about me. Just because I post a message on the internet expressing my disdain for people who dress like slobs doesn't mean you have some keen perspective on my life. This place is one of the few places that I actually let my darker side emerge. The fact of the matter is I don't give a shit about what people wear or do -- I am too busy living my life to worry or care. This is an internet message board and this is a thread about the subject. Your interjections are no more valid than mine.

You don't care about other people, yet you find time to post generalizations about them online? A person who wears flip flops is automatically a jock, and a slob. You are so full of yourself that it's not even funny. Were you picked on in high school a lot? Do you still get picked on a lot as an adult? This is your darker side, HAHAH!

Edit - And no I don't wear flip flops, they are retarded. But I don't give a shit how other people dress, and I don't assume things about them because of how they dress. I do care how people think though, and you are being a child.

I said I don't care how other people LOOK or dress. I never said I don't care about other people. You call me a child -- that's a rather generalized statement to make based on what you know about me, which is based on a very small sampling of posts here. You're right that I have an ego, no I wasn't picked on in high school, no I don't get picked on as a professional adult because I don't encounter many adults who "pick on" each other. What's interesting is that you're riled by my comments so much as to try to deconstruct me and then say that you're so understanding and non-judgemental about how people dress but god forbid you accept someone on the internet bash sweatpants and flip flops. So you're beyond judging people based on materialistic objects yet more than eager to cast judgment upon me based on my drivel on the internet.

Being a child is being supported by a mother, father, one or both and requiring the care and support of a family structure of some kind. Criticizing younger folk for their sloppy dress is far from childish. It's a rite of passage. If you can't handle that, fine. But jumping on me for my half-eyebrow raise at the recent unversiality of causal slovenliness certianly seems childish, if not defensively immature.

Your flesch-kincaid grade level jumped from a 5 in your earlier post to a 9 in that post. Congratulations Mr. Internet smart guy!

And you sound even more juvenile with this post. Nice work.

If you mean those cheap plastic or rubber ones, yeah, they look bad on a guy's huge feet.

The leather/canvas ones are OK though. I wear them myself. My wife shoes my toes off to her friends because I do my own pedicures

I wear them when I'm in Hawaii or going to the beach, but other than that don't really wear them. I think they're acceptable to wear in those circumstances...

Flip flops don't look right on anyone, period. Sandles look good on some people, but flip flops need to be un-invented.

Flip-flops for the most part, are terrible for your feet. Even the better quality ones that have decent arch support are still bad for your feet and ankles because they don't give you any real support or resistance to ankle twisting, plus, they often change your gait and walking style.

I thought jhorts were still cool.

I think unless you grew up going barefoot or in flip flops most of the time (i.e in a tropical or desert area such as Australia), flippy floppies are pretty bad for your feet for long periods of walking. Instead, I wear supportive sandals with a heel strap.

I think it looks ok, just no sock splease. And please be a metrosexual with beautifully, pedicured feet. If you have hairy feet, put some damn shoes on.

Rainbow Sandals FTW!

Ok, flip flops are FINE if you're from CA like SoCal or anywhere decently hot. What's with ATOT and fashion problems? Seriously. Everyone wore them in college. Just go to a party during the summer. If you show up in shoes that's like wtf.

i wear sandals very rarely, and flip flops when going to the pool so i dont burn the bottoms of my feet off. otherwise, shorts are worn with shoes, preferably with socks.
