Gym workout after 3-4 hour of sleep alone. Worth it or pass?

So I got around 3 hours of sleep last night due to pending work. I hit the gym in the morning and did the regular workout.

Will I gain less because of less sleep?

Note - I am not supporting regular 3-4 hrs of night sleep but it happened yesterday in this case.

Gains w.r.t to what? One night of bad sleep won't affect you much, so it's probably fine. Your food intake is much more of a factor than sleep when it comes to "gains".

Still worth it. I would imagine that while not getting enough sleep almost certainly has an effect on your development, not working out has a bigger effect.

I would say continuous 3-4 hours of sleep per night would have an effect, but a single instance would have very little detriment, and certainly more than skipping a day.

I do it for 3-4 months at a time during my farm season and I would still say it is worth it

I've had some of my better gym days on a couple/few hours of sleep ... also some of my worst. It doesn't hurt to go.

Do you notice any gains being less during that time?

sleep is just one factor involved.

progress is SLOW whether one has 3-4 hrs of sleep or 8-10 hrs a night. I find it's better to keep working out during my busy season than it is to take time off. do I make gains, during that time? No, but I do maintain what I have much better if I continue to workout.

if you have one night you didn't sleep much, play it by ear. if you are tired during the day, maybe skip the gym that day. if feeling up to it go.

there isn't some yes or no answer when it comes to training. consistency in everything you do is what pays off over the yrs. consistency with diet, consistency with training, consistency with sleep, consistency with schedule... so if you have one day out of the week or month that something hits you unexpectedly it isn't going to adversely damage your progress over the long term

IMO it is never good to skip. Doing something is always better than lethargy.
