Just want to say that I can finally watch 1080p H.264 movies on my 3500+. I'm using the latest Nvidia drivers and Nero 7.055 (NOT 7.082) and my CPU usage never hits 100%. Usually around 30-55%.

What video card do you have? I assume this wouldn't apply to me, having a 6800GT AGP. If I didn't have a dual-core CPU, I'd be screwed for 1080p h.264 playback
Edit: I also had Dug try that version (7.0.5.5) with the latest Nvidia drivers and he said he saw no difference in CPU utilization for h.264....he has a 6600GT, which at least according to the chart on Nvidia's site should accelerate h.264 decode (unlike my card)...

Yeah as I posted previously, I saw no effect on CPU load on my 7800GT . . . in fact Purevideo still performs worse than directshow filters such as CoreAVC . . .

I tried CoreAVC recently and the audio quality was awful compared to QT when playing Ice Age 2 trailer so I wondered if shortcuts were being used to increase performance. Performance is fine with HT CPU and QT Alt/MPC so I did not bother investigating but if anyone is interested perhaps try a video-only file for comparison... demux a trailer.

I thought CoreAVC was only a video decoder...you'd still have to use something else for audio...
