fresh =/= original

I never considered it before, but fresh is a good word. It might have taken a couple things from other games and mix them up, but it did it well, so it feels fresh.

another good word for titanfall is badass. While i was playing with 2 friends over skype we were talking to each other super excited about every badass thing we did in the match.
"i was in the titan and i was fighting another titan and suddenly i saw the missile lockon of a pilot so i faced that way, captured the missile with the shield a threw it back to the titan, then i dashed forward to it as i was about to die and ejected as the titan explosion killed his titan!!"

"i ejected from the titan and as i was in the air i killed someone sniping in a roof and i was able to land on top of an enemy titan and started blowing everything i had on it!!"

the game is like full of those super heroic moments (but that mean probably nothing in a full match) that make you feel like a badass

Yup I did a lot of that stuff too. Especially like sneak up on titans and rip them apart. Then I hitched a ride on a fellow's titan until I could call mine in. After that, I was able to rip a pilot out of an enemy titan and toss him in the air lol.

Lots of things you can do that give it a fresh feel. Original is something else, I don't think any games are original. The last of us is the only game I would say is pretty original.

i also like the final fight when you are defeated (or win) and everyone in the map starts running to the extraction point to be rescued or to kill the guys trying to be rescued. There are some epic battles there also.

As long as they make the maps bigger and have more objectives and game modes, weapons I believe it will be even more fun. But yea if the community dwindles it will suck, at least on pc.

Love the epilogue! So much better of a way to end a match, than just some text on the screen telling you you won or lost.

I thought it was interesting my first few matches but I'm pretty sure any kills or the like don't get added to your stats -- although I do think it affects unlocks and challenges -- so after the first day or so of playing I would usually just alt-tab once the Epilogue started.

if you lose and get to the chopper and evacuate you get points.

i dont know if something happens if you dont get there or if you are on the winning team and kill them. I guess that if you destroy the aircraft you get something

in the epilogue is when some of the most kamikaze things happen, like people that lost but are too far away from the extraction point going nuts like saying "ok, im not leaving this place alive but im gonna take a couple titans with me"

Crap...damn beta expired before I could try it!

I played it when it first came out for a few hours. Then I played it for another hour a bit later, then I did some benchmarking for 30 minutes and then when they took the beta away I didn't care. I don't honestly think you missed anything, I got my fill of the game within 2-3 hours honestly. Its solid enough but not worth its asking price, feels like it could be free to play or a budget title.

Its very fun but for $60 I'm not sure. On a console you will have a good crowd as there aren't many new console games out. But on pc, it may not be as popular as bf4.

Its just that I was waiting for an email or something giving me a key, then late last night I noticed it was in Origin so I downloaded it and was going to check it out this morning/evening. I mainly just wanted to do some benchmarking and capture some footage. Probably not going to buy the game just to poke around.

did it expire?

i've been at work so much, but i made it to level 9. had fun. will buy.
i don't really see a FPS alternative. quakelive is too hard, and frankly, too old-skool. blacklight has been abandoned by its devs, and its a mess. CS is laggy and full of hax.

not going to play UT. sorry.

I signed up for beta the day it was released for pc. I never got a code either until it became public and I saw that I didn't need one anymore since it was in my origin list.

It's like call of duty but better in a way, with mechs and different abilities. And you have bots, not too crazy over that as they are mainly dumb cannon fodder and can get you killed by real players. But they do serve their purpose by decreasing the time span it takes for your titan to fall.

Quakelive is too hard for you? After all that bragging earlier. Lets see, ah here it is:

(in other fps games)
I seriously struggle to find people who don't suck donkey bawls to be my teammates, and when we play 8v8 if i have *one* player of my level on my side, we can roll 2v8 and whopp ass.
I was playing some DM today 1v3 and won with 19/2 K/D

Really, i hate playing in too many people; my skill gets watered down. It really frustrationg going 39-9 (game ends at 90) and losing because the other 7 idiots in my team happily go 1-14.

After reading that ^ I assumed you were a pro, but if QL is too hard for you then I was extremely mistaken, or shall I say misled. "Old-skool" is where its at, QL is from a time where you didnt get points for showing just up and dying.

im SR 97 in just about anything.

if i play FFA i'm against FZ, unnamedtony or Trajan (when he shows up) (im in EU)
if im playing CA i'm against Bauro, Oxide, or even Strenx (when he plays CA).

i'm tired of spawning on top of Asylum and getting railed 4 times before i can hit the ground.

quake is good practice for .. hmm .. anything which has a mouse in it.
but i've had enough of playing *only* vs people with 15+ years of experience.

oh, the reason of the ^^ is that the "pros" from my QL clan refuse to play anything else, even CS. Same same, BLR is full of casuals who can't tell their m_yaw from their m_pitch.
Compared to the dross we get there, yeah, i'm pretty awesome.

you know what, i don't have a lot to do, so let's make this post into a QL rant.

there's people that play ONLY bloodrun.(same goes for campgrounds.)
you can go in their history and all they ever do, every day, is play bloodrun duel. you cannot get these people to ever play anything else and if you do (and probably spank them) they whine that "it's not a duel map".
or "this map doesnt have rail, i play rail"(/quit)
or "i only play aerowalk; me: i dont have pro, i dont know how to do the RA jump. them: lets play aerowalk, its fun. i only play aerowalk"
QL is full of assholes who would rather crush a noob than have a fair match.
(not to mention tier slummers)

people i play with generally average 55% railgun, 38%+ LG. IN CLAN ARENA.

bridge to rail, without CPMA. and ofc circle strafe and all other manners of strafe jumping.
your manual ability determines even how fast you move. QL is 100% mouse skill and 0% tactics.
In CA the only viable tactic is "lets go there 2v1 and beat him up". you're not gonna find many tacticians in QL, even "dont block me" and "don't leave me 2v1" is too hard a concept for many players.

your model moves faster than the rockets, dodge is instantaneous, your model has no inertia whatsoever. you are never where you seem to be, as long as you can press *any* key faster than your enemy's ping.
essentially QL is constantly moving little circles with teh mouse, spamming A and D while jumping,
and randomly pressing any move button when someone is shooting at you. *constantly*
when playing duel in something like house of decay, you are literally playing vs your opponent's fingers. There is NO tactical choice you can make which can force a decision from your opponent.
having one pixel exposed or the whole body makes no difference whatsoever. positionings don't matter. all that matters is timing your items and moving faster than your enemy (again, getting that extra PQL speed).

In T3 there's people now playing with 51 handicap, they are so terrorized of going to T4.

In F2P mode, there's horribad map rotation. People in T3 CA will vote dreadwerkz, then crouch in the top corner in the corner near the TP, in the fog/long JP room, until the timer runs out, or until their own teammates go there and bounce them in the fog out of desperation. playing 25 minute dreadwerkz CA matches is no fun.
(i haven't seen a T3 FFA game in .. 4 years?)

sure i had lots of fun with my clan; but it's £40 a year sub (thank you paypal) and it's always the same 10 guys, always the same rail shot, always the same rocketjump on the same 4 maps. trying to vote in something like hells gate or asylum is a miracle you have to beg for.

quake's skillcap is artificially high, just like if i made you do coding with your head in a bucket of water. with the weapons models it has, you can fill a tiny corridor with balls of plasma and never hit the one guy walking right in the middle of it. you still have to compensate for lag (yeah, unlagged my ass) and with the ridiculous "move models first, weapons later" anything which has a prestep must be aimed vectorially. try shooting a PG at someone while you're both on a JP and then tell me.

sorry buddy, but games with classes, equipment, environments, objectives, are so much better than quake. hitscan automatic weapons that actually do something and models with inertia are just better. you still have a skillcap, but it involves more than aim. for example, getting caught outside of cover, you can't just spam dodge, since thats enough to *never* be hit. by someone standing right in front of you, firing a full-auto, constant beam of lightning right in the center of your model.
intuition, use of cover, deployment of tools, teamplay, resources, all things which quake doesnt have.

its ok for a game made in 1998, but it belongs in the past.

(my latest and best KDR in a full 8v8 BLR match, tiny map - 43/2. yeah im pretty good, when *thinking* actually does something to your game)

I am calling this now. This game will be a big flop or at the least die off pretty quick once people realize that it gets boring really fast.

are you calling that from playing 2 maps, 3 modes and 1 titan and a level cap? or do you had access to the full game?

We all played a beta, not the full game

I think I get it. And it happens in every game that gets played to death. Too big skill difference between 'pros' and 'noobs'. As an average player you can easily beat noobs, but you'll have to spend an ungodly amount of time to be able to beat the pros. That last 1% of skill can be too hard to obtain. Without it you will lose everytime though. Issue gets compounded when the pros only play one or two maps ever. Get them to try a new map and beat them: map sucks/unbalanced/blahblahblah.

Anyway, I played the beta for a bit and yes, I think 6v6 is too low playercount. Took too long to actually bump in to a real player. And if you die in that encouter it really sucks.

Also my first game without dedicated server. It feels so unpersonal. They could just fill the lobby with ai players and you wouldn't even notice. Except for the moronic sounds coming through your headphones.

There is a very good chance he didn't play the beta at all. People love to call games flops and hate them, despite never having played them.

This game will be just like every other COD-esque game. All the PC "elitists" will hate it and it will sell millions of copies on the infidel systems and be a success. At the end of the day, only those who whine about it will be the ones who are upset in any way.

6v6 is perfect. The game is fast paced and I encountered real players ALL the time in the beta, if you have any map awareness whatsoever you should know where to look after a few hours of gameplay. You can have a total of 12 titans on any given map at any time and people think that's not enough? Are you joking? Go play mech assault if you want full mech battles. I've played games in titanfall where the enemy team or my team would call in their titans all at the same time and just destroy the other team, I could NOT handle this game if there were even MORE titans on screen at once. They have to make the maps small enough for foot travel but large enough for the titans and I feel like they did a great job with the maps they gave us. Nothing will ever be perfect for everyone and there will always be whiners and complainers. I like the game and can't wait to play the full version. I only have one complaint, the party system was broken but the X1's party system has been broken since release.

Watching the youtube videos did not make me excited. Not that I have played it for about 6 or 7 hours the game is actually very good. Def something different that Call of Duty. I think it blends two skill levels rather well. You will always get your killstreak(titanfall) eventually. The pros get it faster but that does not mean the noobs will never experience the fun part of the game.

6v6 is good enough for me. There was always action when I was playing it. Ran into people all the time. The weapons are great too. Never thought anything was OP. If you are a noob and want to farm grunts and ai people then they can use a smart pistol. If you are better than most then use a assault rifle/shotgun. The smart pistol isn't even good until you get the faster lock on attachment.

I still won't buy this game at full price but will def buy it at the 19.99 level. Don't see how a multiplayer only game is worth 60 bucks.

I liked it a lot. Honestly it should be released at $40 bucks. It's multiplayer only and with a online co op story, whatever that is. I want to get it because I had a lot of fun and I leveled up easily...in my short time of playing. But $60 when other games also are coming out is tough.

Do you guys really find that much value in a single player campaign, in a FPS in which multiplayer is the focus? Did you with Battlefield or CoD?
